With Rex at QB there is just no hope to compete for a Super Bowl. The longer you keep him, the greater risk you run of having productive players want to leave the Redskins and the greater risk you run of having your team be a complete afterthought for prospective free agents.
When quality free agents hit the market, they pick their team as much as the team picks them. Good free agent players have options, and if you go into next year with Rex you give them no reason to choose the Redskins.

I think my bigger concern, and I alluded to this a few weeks ago, is that Rex is a "known commodity" for the Shanahans and as such he's an easy crutch to go to. I think whoever their QB is whether it's Flynn or Hoyer or RG3 or Tannehill, whoever it is, they have to-as they say-"ride or die" with him. It's the only way they can truly take that next step
