I think it's an important factor, especially for those hoping Manning is our next QB. Manning from all accounts is a good guy who wants a good working relationship with everyone. Why would he have anything to do w/ Mike Shanahan after the McNabb fiasco etc etc?

Pure speculation on my part, but I'm thinking Shanahan might relinquish considerable control to Peyton Manning in order to reestablish or reaffirm his own credibility as a top-flite coach. I'm not suggesting we sign Manning, because I think there is too much risk involved with making an investment in him under the circumstances. Nevertheless, Shanahan may view it differently; he might see Manning as his last, best opportunity to win another Super Bowl.
