But to answer your hypothetical question I'd want to know from PM if he was not able to play would he consider staying on and assisting with coaching in some capacity? If he would and would give your team first crack at a contract then it's a win win and you go out and pick up a really good Rookie QB who can either learn behind PM or could be coached up by PM.

He's not going to just out of pads and right into a clip board. There is a big difference between being a player and being a coach. There is a progressive process. You normally start out as a quality control guy, move up to an assistant position coach, and go from there. I realize Peyton Manning is an amazing student of the game but it just doesn't work that way.
