I just disagree with the Snyder cap managament, which some on this web sight think he has handled so well. We are so tight up against the cap that even if a great player (at postion we really need like DE, MLB, SS or a blocking TE) becomes available, we have no way to sign him. Even if that player wanted to come here, sorry there is not enough money.
All we can afford is the dregs of free agency, not any real talent to round out our roster or even creat some reliable depth.
God forid we have an injury at critical position, we have no way to sign any real talent.

First off, you don't see the Patriots going out and signing lots of big-name players to big contracts. That's not the way you win in this league. You win through finding cheap talent (either through the draft or through the mid-range/low-range free agents) that you can COACH AND TEACH to play football the way you want to play it.
Secondly, continuity is so important. I don't want to see us signing a bunch of new starters every year, because it takes too long for them to learn to play a new system. If our roster is turning over, I'd like to see the new players (whether drafted or as free agents) generall come in as backups, so they can be TAUGHT by the coaches and grow into starting roles.
I don't want to sign a new stud DE. I want to give Chris Clemons a shot, remember how well he did on pass-rushing downs?? I don't want to sign an established blocking TE, I want to give our newly drafted fullbacks a chance to be our short-yardage bulldozers. That's how you unearth gems, you see flashes of their skills in limited duty one year, then the next year you promote them to a more prominent role.
I contend that we don't need a DE, we have Daniels and Arrington coming back, plus Clemons should see more time. We don't need more WRs because I think Taylor Jacobs can be something big (he's had the standard 3 years in the league now). I think we're fine at MLB; Lemar Marshall showed that he can play well last year, plus we built depth with McCune and Holdman. And we DEFINITELY don't need safeties.
I don't want more stars. I'm sick of that school of thought. I just want more cogs in the wheel.
