I do see the Dixson signing as insurance if Taylor gets supended. But I see it more as a possibility that he could work his way to be becoming our starting Strong Safety some day.
In fact he might be better suited to be a SS more than a FS, because of his playing style.
The article says, " Dixon, 25, has started at both safety positions and so he will present ever-creative coordinator Gregg Williams with some options on how to deploy him."
It also says, "The former Alabama standout is a solid defender against the run and a very effective blitzer" (perfect for a SS).
Dixson has great size at 6',1" 210 lbs. and is also a former second round pick, so he came out of college with a higher regard than any of our current saftey's except for ST. Maybe he just needs some time to develop and he could replace our current SS, who is one dimensional and not very good against the pass.
