I agree. They need to find better value and sign more cap friendly alternatives to guys like Vincent Jackson. While I agree we need to add a WR, I don't think that receiver needs to be all-world. If we get good play from the QB position, the WR production will improve by default. Maybe an Eddie Royal in the slot instead of Moss and someone like Josh Morgan to compliment Hankerson and Gaffney. I think we'd all like to see them better utilize Cooley and Davis.
WRs are a nice to have. Teams regularly win Super Bowls without GREAT WRs. See Steelers, Colts, Patriots, etc. Brees makes weapons out of anyone they trot out on the field. With maybe the exception of Hines Ward, none of those teams will put any WRs in the hall of fame.
And the O line gets a bad rap. The sacks weren't outrageous last year, especially if you eliminate the 10 sack game that I would lay at the feet of John Beck. Grossman had plenty of time to throw downfield, but routinely underthrew his receivers, and there were plenty of running lanes for Royster and Helu, even with our makeshift line.
They could get away with 1 free agent WR and 1 free agent O-lineman and look for some sleepers in the draft. I'm pretty sure they racked up the most yards since 2000 last year. Despite all his skills and potential, RGIII is still a rookie and will experience some growing pains. Let's get through this season, make the best of it and continue to build around RGIII next year. Go young and build for the long haul. I'm not stressing.
