Eight wins is a base expectation for the upcoming season.

I think if we're on the "right" track, we should do better than eight wins. That might mean 11 wins if we're fortunate, it could be just 9 with a unfortunate year on defense. If it's 7 or 8, then I think it's more a case of the Redskins just being out there doing their thing, which means we could be in line for a 10 win season in 2013, but we could also be in line for a 10 loss season as well.

I suppose that's true no matter how many games you win this year. But this year needs to be the big jump. And with all the close games they've been in (and blown) the last few years, I'm not sure a jump from 5 to 8 really goes beyond just satisfying expectation.
