NFL Draft History and AFL Drafts - Pro-Football-Reference.com
I stopped b/c, even from drafts six years ago, two thirds of the players drafted in the 2nd and 3rd were still in the league at the end of last year. Of the 2nd and 3rd rounders drafted four years ago, more than 80% were still in the league at the end of 2011.
If Minnifield was a 2nd or 3rd round talent knocked out of the draft due to injury concerns (1) it wouldn't be the first time that had happened only to have the player come back and be a solid contributor; and (2) if we get 2nd or 3rd round production from Minnifield we have a pretty good shot at many serviciable years.
Sorry, the inanity of your 80% assertion was just to blatant to let pass.

Damn ya got me! I was just guesstimating, wow I'm surprised by those numbers, more so from 2008 and backward.
As for those asking about where I heard rumors of Minnifield. Profootballweekly grades out players who are rising and falling. They said that multiple scouts were trying "to like minnifield, because of his NFL bloodlines, but flat out just don't like him--" One scout they talked to said he wouldn't touch him until the "7th atleast"
On twitter Matt Miller of nfldraftscout.com had Minnifield out of the draft, and said he was "one of the most overrated players in the draft.
Someone else I read (I want to say it was a foxsports or scout.com guy not sure though) said something along the lines of "I have never had a guy rated so highly one year and then so low the next." (I'm not 100% sure if this article or post came out before or after his surgery.)
So yeah I heard a reasonable amount to form that opinion.
I'm glad we didn't draft him, and like you all say I'm glad we signed him for nothing and its a win win for us. But I'm just saying theres a reason guys go undrafted, injury or not, because if a team is high on a player and that player gets injured they'll get him (Cardinals with Obrien Schofield with his torn ACL; Eagles with Jack/Jake Iwgegawnu the CB from Wisconsin who tore his ACL; Lions with Broyles and his torn ACL). And quiet simply this guy was rated as a 2-4th rounder like the guys above were. Difference is that those guys went in those rounds still, and he didn't go in any round. We need CB's and I hope he's great to help out our team, but all I'm saying is don't expect me to put "Minnifield" down on my final 53 man roster anytime soon.
