Consider that at the times Gibbs resigned in 2008, he did make mention that he would have held a QB compeition between Todd Collins and JC had he stayed as coach. I believe Gibbs knew that Campbell was not the answer deep down. Joe preferred veteran QB's because throughout his tenure as head coach it was always the veterans who performed well, played smart, and didn't make mistakes that cost the team...

Also when you have hall of famers all over the field and several pro bowl players on top of that you can get away with "plugging in" qb's. This team now is a far cry from that collection of talent. God - Bethard and Gibbs were just a lethal combination of know how.
