I think the reasons have been pretty well documented. He's not a contributor on special teams even though he gave it a shot this offseason, and he's just not a great practice player.
I think Gibbs liked what he saw on film of McCants and that's why he re-signed him... but he obviously wasn't as impressed once he got a look at him up close.
