Looking at AS contract details, I cannot realistically see the teams ability to sign another veteran quarterback.
Smiths contract will count somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 million against the 2019 cap. Colt McCoy gets 3.5 million. If the organization goes after another veteran, that would equate to a significant chunk of the teams cap to the QB position.
I am of the mind that Washington looks to the draft for a rookie QB where the salaries are much more 'cap friendly'. I have already seen a couple of mocks that say Washington drafts Kyler Murray at the 15 spot.
Smith will not be making any career decisions soon. If he is on the roster as of March 17, 2019 his salary for 2020 is fully guaranteed.
