I'm not sure that statement completely applies when you're talking about a player of his caliber, and what he brings to the field when he is available, but he's missed something like 13 or 14 games in the last 3 years. This is the best argument I've ever seen in favor of paying Trent lol.
Aside from that, he's a team leader, he's always worked hard, and played through injury, and is amongst the best at his position. It's easy to see pay the man, but I'd give him a new contract with an out clause after 3 or so years because we know we're not getting 16 games a year out of him anymore.
