Some HOF questions to pass the time

I watched this documentary about some of the Redskin greats and it got me thinking.

We already know that great football statistics don't necessarily get you into the hall of fame. So here are my questions.

1. Do you think Rigo would be in the hall if he hadn’t had that great run in the supper bowl?
2. Do you think Rigo would be in the hall if he was not such a flashy and flamboyant character.?
3. Do you think Art Monk would be in the hall if he had a flamboyant character like Rigo?

I think the first criteria that is one of the most important is the players' relationship with the media. They are the voters and they have the most influence with the shaping of a players' image because they control what is presented to the public; even post-career.

Will Pat Tillman be placed in the HoF because he has become a national hero?

No, I don't think that Tillman should get into the Hall. While what he did was valiant and extremely honorable, it wasn't a football accomplishment.

However, I wouldn't be upset if he did get in. But I do think it would slightly dilute what the HOF is all about.

I agree that what he did on the field probably doesn't merit him getting in, but (I've never been so I really don't know how it's set up) do you think there will be some kind of memorial to him in it? I could see them having a game jersey or something hanging up with a plaque telling his story.

I don't know if Riggins would have gotten in without the run, beacuse the Skins may not have won the SB without his run. His stats may have gotten him in regardless however. At one time Riggins was in the top ten in all time rushing yards. He is not there right now though. I don't know if being flashy really helped him or not when he was voted in in 1991. Maybe what helped him more than anything was that he was a great back and the Skins were a good team in 1991.

Something like that might very appropriate actually. I think as long as the memorial is the primary focus and not his football accomplishments, per se.

Re: Some HOF questions to pass the time

anyone have irvins and monks stats to compare? i think they both won 3 rings so thats a push. as far as riggo, in his day he was a real force, top five or six running back. i think he is in without the superbowl run
