Looking back...

and going into the highlight section here, which is awesome I miss how great we played the year before last... like the 35-7, 14-13 cowboy games, watching those literlly give me chills.... even like the 49ers game...the new years day eagles win... what are the chances realisticly do u think that we can return to that explosive offense, crushing defense and glory of 2005... not to mention we only lost ONE game by more than 3 points that year...

Re: Looking back...

If we can get back to taking away the run, our guys can get back to pinning their ears back and blitzing effectively again.

We haven't really done anything to address the Dline this offseason, so at this point I'd say our chances aren't good. But obviously the draft/June 1 will change that outlook.

We lost 28-21 to the Chiefs, 36-0 to the Giants, and by a touchdown to the Chargers in OT.

I know what you're saying though. If anything, the offenses should be similar. Maybe an even better passing game. Defensively though? Not so much.

Re: Looking back...

The glory of 2005. Not sure how old you are, but try being a fan since the 80's and actually knowing what it felt like to be a legitimate contender EVERY year.

I feel for the younger fans because they've never known real success. When things get rough, at least us old timers can reflect back on those victories and apply them like a soothing balm to help get us through the rough seasons.

Please tell me "back" isn't some kind of code word.

Re: Looking back...

I remember my family having a big Super Bowl party when the Skins beat the Broncos, but I was only like 5 so I don't really remember the game.

I do feel lucky enough to be old enough to at least remember the '92 SB. I think I may have gotten a dirty look from my mom for saying that the Skins were "kicking Jim Kelly's ass," but she was too happy to really do anything about it. I also remember taking the Metro to Federal Triangle to go to the victory parade, but all I could see was a ton of backsides because I was still a little kid.

Those were good times.

Re: Looking back...

While the impatience of the younger fans is expected, think about the fans prior to 1982. They waited 40 years for a championship. Now those people definately had a right to complain.

Apparently my grandfather once threw a butter knife at the TV after a Billy Kilmer INT and it stuck in the screen like a dart. Talk about frustration.
