Huh?
You need to come with something better than "Please" in the body of a topic. Starting a thread is a privilege, not a right. |

Ok. Can we stop complaining about the headsets after every loss? Never seems to be an issue in the wins.
BTW, no need to be so antagonistic. We're all on the same side here. |

I'm not being antagonistic, just doing my job as a mod here. I still don't see what the point of this thread really is. |

Re: Can we drop the complaining about headsets every game?
Mea Culpa. I guess my point is that every post game news conference has JG complaining about the communications. I would like him at some point to come out and say something substantive rather than "the communications were giving us a problem" or "we fought our guts out". maybe i am the only one, but i'd like him to say something to the effect of "maybe it's time for people around here to start earning their paychecks." of course, maybe it's just me

Headset Conspiracies So I'm talking to some various personnel people yesterday just trying to stay up on some things, when the conversations turns to Beli-cheat, and other forms of gamesmanship. So I mention to this one exec about how fired up Coach Joe was in recent weeks about the headsets going down in Philly and Green Bay this season, and this says that his teams has reported both of those clubs to the league for the same thing. Seems like it's not a coincidence after all. This guy, whose team has played in Green Bay and Philly in the past two seasons, says that in both cases, at fairly critical junctures in the game, all of a sudden they lost headset communication. "I think if you talk to teams around the league, you'll find there's definitely shenanigans going on in Green Bay and Philly," he said. Now, to put it in perspective, as much as the offended team was upset about all of this, he said you also learn over time to brace for this kind of stuff around the league. "Everybody's got something," he said. "That's why they call it home-field advantage." As many of you Skins fans have pointed out to me in hordes of emails and submissions during webchats, many of the people who go to games at FedEx Field are convinced the Redskins pump in fan noise through the speakers (another no-no). But, again, there seems to be a sort of acceptance of this stuff, and I'm not exactly what's considered crossing the line. Even Belichick's stealing signs thing was met by apathy in some quarters of the NFL as kind of a time-honored tradition, while others got all tweaked about it. Where do you guys stand on this? Should you expect a totally even playing field on the road, or do you have to kind of brace for this kind of wacky stuff away from home? Also, at the risk of getting a forearm shiver to the skull, I plan to point out to Coach Joe that the Redskins have not lost to the Pats in 35 years - a fact my boy Bram just made me aware of - and also that the Skins are the only team Tom Brady has yet to defeat. If you're a Skins fan, the perfect scenario would entail me asking Coach Joe about this today - and I'll definitely couch it in a humorous way - and then Coleman or DLD asking him about it again on Friday, when all hell could break loose.

Re: Can we drop the complaining about headsets every game?
I've been on this board since '04 and have been a lifelong fan. take all the cheap shots you want but all i have said today is that we ought to stop complaining about Belicheck being classless and stop complaining about the communications. we've got bigger things to worry about. But thanks for the input. Lock the thread. I'm not toeing the line.
As an aside, it's good to see that we can have differences of opinion without things getting personal my friend. Peace. |

I wonder if we do it when the eagles come to town will the Skins get fined and/or penalized while it seems others get away with messing with communications.

Re: Can we drop the complaining about headsets every game?
Look, JG did not BLAME anything this week on the headsets. He mentioned it when asked, and continually deflected questions about that when reporters pressed, repeating, "It had nothing to do with the loss today." He didn't bring it up--others did. And he responded appropriately. What do you want?
And it's been an issue several times in wins and losses. All JG has said is that the league should look into it--maybe both teams should put down the headsets when one team's are not working. Seems reasonable. But he hasn't blamed anything on it, IMO, and certainly not today.

Re: Can we drop the complaining about headsets every game?
Nope. We can't stop complaining, and we shouldn't.
IMO, there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for the headsets to stop working. It's a simple thing, and it should NEVER happen. In fact, it seems more likely that the cause of them malfunctioning is due to sabotage, and not technical issues. Does the cordless phone in your house stop working 10% of the time you use it? Does a pacemaker or respirator malfunction sometimes? No, they don't. If they did people wouldn't use them, so the manufacturers make certain they always work. It should be the same way here. This is the NFL after all -- a multi-billion dollar industry. So, I totally think this topic is worthy of complaints. I would complain until they fixed it.

Re: Can we drop the complaining about headsets every game?
Yeah, with the way things are going around the league....all road teams should be practicing 100% hand signals all week. which should not be a huge issue considering that crowd noise creates the same issue anyway. JC should be able to handle it...he better when we go on the road on November 18th.
