6i Isolator Earphones
I just picked up a pair of these 6i Isolator Earphones and they are truly amazing! I'm hearing things that I've never heard before. The only hard part to get used to is they have to go pretty deep in your ear canal, but I'm slowly starting to get used to it. You can pick these up on ebay for around $80. Definitely worth the money.
Anyone else have these? |

I have similar earphones, Shure i4C.
They are worth every penny! It took a while to get used to them being inside of the ear and they block nearly all outside noise. They are awesome if you are trying to relax in a noisy environment. |

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
I am looking into purchasing a pair of new noise isolating headphones so I am excited to hear about this recommendation.
Matty and Jam, do you guys use these with an ipod? That is primarily where I listen to music so I want something that can bring it to life. Also, an important factor for me is whether or not people around you can hear the headphones. I am on the train a lot and people get really annoyed here if they can detect even the slightest noise (you are actually banned from using your cellphone on the train in Japan, which I never understood because it's ok if you talk to your friend beside you). Thanks for the help guys. |

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
Yes I use them with my ipod.
I doubt people around you will would hear your music only because with these things so deep in your ear, you don't need very much volume. And with how well they shut out all outside noise, again you don't need to crank the volume very much at all. |

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
Matty, I've had these etymotic's ever since I've had an ipod... the isolators are the only way to go if you're not using professional headphones. One of my ear buds went out today though, so I've got to replace the filter.

I use Sennheiser PXC 250 Noiseguard headphones. There's a little clippy belt thing with them, but they sound amazing. Absolutely crucial for air travel and NYC subways!

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
Those ear buds remind me of the ear plugs I used to have to wear when I worked at Fieldcrest, INC. I assume it's the same concept and if so, those buds should do a pretty good job with noise cancellation. Only thing is, my ears got pretty sore wearing those earplugs (but I was wearing them 8 hours a day.)

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
I think the earpiece on the Jawbone Bluetooth headset works the same way as the isolater earbuds. Pretty good stuff.

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
I recently got Dell BH200 Bluetooth headset. They are wicked good...comfortable, high quality audio, no wires, 8 hours of battery life and are rechargeable via USB within an hour.
Down with wires...No more wires!!!

I've always wanted to try them but I couldn't convince myself they were worth the money. I finally gave in and now I regret not getting them sooner. They really are amazing. It's crazy how you can hear singers taking a breath, fingers sliding on the guitar, and just so many other subtle sounds that you don't normally hear. |

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
I think they were $170 at the time...
FYI, I don't have an Ipod, I Have a samsung flash player. I regret not getting a Nano because of all the great accessories for Ipods. Other than than, I love my samsung mainly because it has a metal case and an observed 27+ hour battery life! I wish it had a god damn docking station... |

Re: 6i Isolator Earphones
One thing to remember is that in most states it is illegal to wear headphones while driving. I think the kind in one ear for like a phone is OK but both ears it is illegal.
