Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
A, at first I was a little worried about no DL, but now I'm dreaming of 5 WR sets and 40 yard TDs from the jumbo package.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
B - we've given Jason Campbell all the weapons he should need, but what about the defense?

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
B based on value alone. Also, I feel like all three first day picks will actually make the team and contribute, if not start, immediatly.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
Solid B for great value, would have liked to have seen at least 1 need filled along the lines but when you look at the value we got I'm finding it hard to have anything really bad to say, especially when we still have 6 selections left.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
B for value, not necessarily need. Same as everyone else.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
I like Thomas but he is no sure thing with only a year of big time college success under his belt. Davis looks to be a good TE but with other needs is this something the Skins can afford at a #2? Kelly with bad knees is this something we can take a chance with a D line and O line in need? My great is B- because there is so much unknown here!

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
C We definitely got good value with our picks. I am upset that we didn't use one of our first three picks on defense. I am also concerned about Devin Thomas being a one year wonder, Malcolm Kelly's knees, and I had TE as one one our lowest needs so the Fred Davis pick is kind of a head scratcher for me, plus you got to wonder why so many teams passed on Thomas and Kelly. I am hoping these guys work out for us.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
B- we are building for the west coast offense and both of the WR we got had 1st round grades.

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
yes we have six but 3 are in the 7th and one in the 6th. If we get one starter out of the 3rd[very] late and a early 4th will be a good day two of the draft!

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
D-. Excellent trade by Cerrato. Brilliant even.
There's a 50% chance that 2 out the 3 players drafted today never starts a game for the Redskins. Davis is a good selection, but he's not going to beat out Cooley. Kelly should beat Thomas out, and he should replace ARE in the starting lineup by 2009. But how certain are we that Kelly will develop as expected. The only thing we know about Kelly is that he's probably better than Devin Thomas. I'm not even sure he will ever develop into a quality starting receiver. We are making a leap of faith there, and hopefully we don't get spurned. Regarding Thomas...at least Taylor Jacobs was a hard worker

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
C, Devin Thomas was a steal and a great pick, but we should have gotten Calais Cambell with our 2nd 2nd rounder, then get fred davis with the next one. I was hopeing Merling was gonna fall past miami, I guess the skins didn't like him enough

Re: Day 1 Draft Grade
I thought that they should have at least used one of those picks on an offensive lineman or definitely a defensive lineman. I thought that the redskins were going to suck it up and use the pick on merling. I don't know if he will be any good, but I do know that we need a defensive lineman and that should have been used with one of these picks. I know that Snyder was at the super bowl. He should have known seen that the defensive line is what controls the line of scrimmage. Surely, he and racquetball boy could made that observation.
