Why does Clinton Portis always trip
As soon as Portis gets the ball he always trips or falls down, even on his one good run of 30 yards last night, he stumbled on his own feet..how the hell does he have so many career rush yards??? lol
And why were we throwing dink and dunk passes and running at the end of the game? Clock management was horrible too. At least the defense came together after the Giants got the TD..every other aspect was lacking. |

NFL Video Galleries Portis' block on Kiwanuka was the play of the night for the Skins and the guy has a huge heart. There were plenty of things to criticize about the Redskins last night, but Portis is not one of them. Retarded thread.

I always say he speed wobbles. He starts going fast then seems to lose his footing. Happens quit a bit but he still rocks!

"speed wobbles"...so true. portis was a bright spot last night. it's not a criticism but i've been thinking this for a while too, right after he gets the ball he alway does something where he seems to catch himself. it's a bit odd.

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
Clinton Portis is the least of our offensive worries. The man is a warrior, and if we can get the other 10 guys on offense to play with his intensity, then I like our chances.

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
I was saying the same thing last night, Ive said it for as long as he has been here. He is a great back but once he hits the open field he stumbles. He had a long run last night where he started to stumble and in looked like he tried to run backwards, just looked strange.
I for one would like to see a few more plays where they let Portis run on the edges, get him outside. Running up the gut all the time is going to wear him down quickly

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
i actually thought you were talking about his discussion with coach Zorn. Portis is one of the few players in the league that could play for any team in the league. not even close to being a problem

I keep reading this thread title and I think it says "Why Does Clinton Portis Always Strip"...and then I open the thread and it's not quite that exciting

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
Im with the OP. Ever since I can remember Portis seems to stumble over his own feet. It's not the biggest of our issues, but it doesn't mean it's not something we should look into.

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
Yea Daseal, I know a good private investigator who can "look into" why Portis stumbles from time to time. He should have the report on my desk tomorrow. LOL, all kidding aside I thought Portis played well. Maybe as our O-line starts to play better, Portis won't be so excited everytime he sees a little day light that he stumbles over himself.
I am not near as worried about how this game went as most of us are. This season, each week will be better than the last generally speaking. The Giants should enjoy this one, because we're gonna get after 'em pretty hard when they come down to FedEx. We might even start out the game with the same defensive strategy we had in the second half.

Give the man props..he's the only bright spot on this offensive roster right now.

Re: Why does Clinton Portis always trip
He has good body control in open space, but loses it when he gets near would-be tacklers. I think it has to do with his focusing on trying not to fumble. He tends to cover up the ball well when tacklers get near, but this also makes him easier to topple over as he is unable to use his arms to balance himself (arms protecting the ball).
Go outside, cross your arms over your chest, and try to make some quick cuts while sprinting while not moving your arms.
