Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
Kinda stole this idea from PFT...
High expectations could result in a dramatic fall | ProFootballTalk.com Personally I'm just not buying the Jets hype. I think they're a year away from being a serious contender. Sanchez is still raw and they're not going to sneak up on anyone this year. I smell a 7-8 win season for them. |

yeah after watching hard knocks I am with you. Even Rex and company seem a bit worried.

Most defintely the Cowboys. Being hyped to be the first team to host a Super Bowl.. I know they are a very talented team that can certainly make it far but just from watching the Cowboys fail to show me anything in the post season really doesn't convince me that there going to do it this year. Aside from all their injuries early I don't think they will have as great of a season as so many people (not here of course) are believing.

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
my top 3 teams with high expectations, who I could see missing the playoffs
#1)Dallas #2)San Diego #3)Raiders I pick Dallas #1 because they have a brutal schedule. Forget the fact that the NFC East is going to be tough. They play @Vikings and we saw what happened in the Vikings/Dallas playoff game. They play @Green Bay and they got the SB champs in Saints at home on Thanksgiving...after just Playing the Lions that following Sunday. So only 3 days rest there. Not to mention they have an early BYE week at WK4. Then they got the Colts on the road... Their 2 easiest road games of the season are @Houston and @Arizona I could easily see them go 6-10 on the season... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As you see I have 2 teams in the AFC West in my top 3. That's because the Chargers are predicted to be good off their past seasons and the Raiders because they now have a "QB" lol The Chargers are in big trouble imo...They are significantly weaker than their strong teams before with the loss of L.T. and Cromartie. They also might be without WR Jackson and McNeil if they both holdout till week 10. That's huge dent in their team imo... The AFC West is more wide open now than people realize imo.. Look for the Chiefs to surprise this season.

Dallas offensive line could really hurt them, I just don't buy Wade Phillips he's a decent coach but IMO he's a little whipping boy to JJ. They have ridiculous expectations for a ROOKIE wr, who is already injured. They are loaded at RB so that will help. Defense is solid but I just don't think they are a super bowl team.

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
Yeah the Jets have to be the one team I look at and wonder why there is so much hype. I don't buy there their offense and without Revis their D isn't as good. Plus I suspect Rex is the second coming of his father...ie: not a really good coach. He may be able to coordinate and his shtick may work initially but it will wear thin and once the going gets tough they're gonna fold.

As for Oakland, I don't see how they could have that high of expectations. They have finished 5-11 for 7 straight seasons. I doubt they even get to .500

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
Yeah I haven't heard much hype about them from analysts. I mean most think they will be improved, but high expectations for them is .500 at best.

Vikings, I just think Farve goes down in a blaze. Dallas is a strong second.

Thomas Boswell's article in today's WashPost entitled "History Speaks Clearly" offers an interesting take on expectations, how/why they should be tempered.

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
Listening to mike and mike already and they're talking about Oakland surprising..
Skinsfan and matt...You two haven't heard the hype on Oakland? Boy I sure have...It's been from there draft was awesome and now they have a QB,to there defense will get them there this year to all kinds of stuff. Now they don't have as high expectations as Dallas or even San Diego, but they're being talked about as a possible playoff team from what I've heard. Not to mention the AFC West plays the NFC West this year as well,so you couldn't ask for an easier schedule really for all....and vice versa for the NFC West playing the AFC West.

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
Oakland's hype is more about them being improved which isn't hard to do considering where they're coming from, I'm talking more about Super Bowl hype. Teams like the Jets, Cowboys, Vikings, etc.

Re: Team with big expectations most likely to implode in '10?
i hate to see it because i'm a huge favre fan, but i don't see the vikings making it any farther than they did last season
i actually think jc will help get oakland above .500 i'd have to say that the jets are my #1 pick though - with or without revis. i don't see a deep playoff run for them
