I think Joe will make some pretty significant changes in the offense during the next 10 months that will prove he can adapt and bring the skins back to glory.

i think they we will have a very good year next year.
gibbs will have a whole year to figure out who are his group of redskins and who arent and have a good off season with ramsey and the d should be better with a second year in the new system and we will get some key players backl |

Who will they draft?
Who will they get rid of and who will they sign in free agency - and don't say that they won't go another signing spree because they will. Until you know that, you can't tell if they will win 12 games or 2 games.

IF, Williams leaves or there is not improvement on the offensive side of the ball, then I highly doubt we will make a run for the playoffs. |

I think if the coaching staff doesn't change (especially on Defense), then this team is going in the right direction. Gibbs will adapt and make some changes.
Hopefully Ramsey can stay healthy and play well and establish himself as our franchise QB. |

Since all indications are that Williams will be back next year, the defense should once again be solid. I love what the defense has shown this year, next year hopefully we'll be healthier and maybe we can add a pass rushing defensive end.
Offensively, Gibbs should have a better handle on how he wants to attack the 8 man fronts and blitz packages that have ground his offense to a halt. You'd think that after practicing against the Williams unit the offense would be able to execute against the blitz a little better, hopefully Ramsey grows more comfortable and confident in the offense. I really thought we'd be in the wild card mix this season, and I agree that a lot depends on how we finish 2004. Our offense must show some signs of life so that we have something to build upon in the offseason. Right now I'd have to say no because we just don't have an offense that can complement our defense. But if we can break the 20 point barrier at least once this season, and see a little of the chemistry that Coles and Ramsey showed year then at least there's hope. |

I put fact out of sheer hope...but the reality is that it's way to early to tell. Most of it depends on what kind of QB play they get and the OL needs to get better. The OL should get better just by getting back our injured guys, but the development of PR is where everything will hinge. This is why the last 6 games of this year are huge for next year. The Skins need to finish somewhat strong offensively so that the team can regain confidence in Ramsey and Ramsey can regain confidence in himself. Confidence carries teams and individuals everywhere in football and right now the redskins offense has no confidence. They are all out there just trying not to be the one to make the next mistake and that's no way to win.

It's just a question guys, take it for what it is. I'm well aware it's early, just thought I'd try to change gears and get away from our miseries of this year for a moment.

I think gibbs will take a long hard look at this year and make the necessary ajustments in the offence to adapt to todays defences. I have seen gibbs grow this year to adapt to todays games. Remember how confused he looked on the sidelines in some of the first games wasting timeouts and having trouble with getting the plays in. We have not seen that in the past four or five games, He adapted. He is a great coach and will work hard with the offence and we will be in the playoffs with a top 15 offence and a top five defence.

Gibbs will make adjustments, everywhere. The coaching staff will be intact and we will return to greatness. And I'll finally graduate college, but I'll only be starting in college again for my Master's Degree so something won't change..hahahahaha....

We have the talent to win the super bowl next year, but we also have the talent to have made the playoff's this year, we have to hope that the Gibb's system is a system that takes a good half to most of a season to really grasp, ala 81',82' season's, could it be that the complexity of his offense need's that kind of time to really become comfortable and functionable for the player's? It happened once before, maybe, just maybe that's what's going on now with our offense, remember Gibb's lost his first 6 games his first year with us, plenty of people wanted his head, good thing JKC stuck with him, the scepticism he is recieving now is to be understood that's the nature of the buisness, but it also act's like a motivational tool for the coaches and player's nobody want's to be booed or have their abilities questioned it's a definite motivator, I have been waiting for that 1 game when everything click's and we start our ascention to the top, I just thought it would come sooner than it has given Gibb's experience now compared to when he first started out back in 81', perhaps the layoff is far more of a hinderence than lack of head coaching experience as was the case in 81'. I think Gibb's will get up to speed but I don't think it will happen until next season he will need an offseason to clear his head.

At this point I haven't seen enough to say we'll be able to take a shot at the playoffs.

We need a general manager to take that pressure off of Gibbs. That is phase two of the restructuring of the Redskin management. No proud franchise like the Redskins should be bereft of a strong general manager. Let Gibbs coach like he always used to instead of in effect holding two enormous jobs.
Secondly, we need to get some depth on the offensive line. We can't afford to go into another season and face the difficulties we have had if we do get any other serious injuries. Thirdly, we have to sort out the quarterback position. We need someone there who is ready to go for next year in my opinion. Our team is such that you don't want someone to have a huge learning curve because everyone else for the most part, at their positions, are ready to play at a high level. We don't want to be in a situation where the only thing holding us back is a quarterback who is struggling to learn. Ramsey, I hope you can get it together this season. Fourthly, I think we need to clear out the logjam at wide receiver. If Coles is back at 100%, we have McCants, Jacobs, Gardner, and Thrash. If we can trade someone there - and Gardner would be the one - to get some draft picks or a good offensive lineman - that would be good. But we need a general manager to take advantage of any draft choices. If we can do those things, then we will be in the playoffs next season. If we don't do them, then we will have an uphill struggle. |
