Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night | ProFootballTalk.com
How far has MLB fallen? GAME 3 was less watched than the Titans Jags MNF game. 30-3 final What do you guys think about these Timeouts asked by ESPN? I was wondering if Tenn was just padding stats but I guess not.

I think that's a dangerous precedent.

Re: Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
I have always believed that the networks cut away from the game way too often. There is no need for it other than the fact that they want to pay their airtime obligations to sponsors. Frankly they are selling too much airtime and as you can see it has affected the outcome of at least one NFL game.
Personally it pisses me off to watch football because of all of the commercial breaks. I would much rather listen to a commentator ramble on about some football related topic than cut away to a stupid ass Geico commercial. Think of it this way if you were interrupted during sex as much as a football game gets interrupted then you would be pretty pissed off. Now I am not saying that football is like sex but it's pretty freakin close. |

Wow! However I will agree, that I hate it when the network breaks for a commercial after an extra point, comes back, and then breaks again after the kickoff. That drives me nuts.

LOL @ Angry.
I'm speechless..lol! But yes, the networks breaking away to a commercial for every little stoppage of play is ridiculous. I'm surprised they don't go to commercial while the teams are calling the play in the huddle.

They asked Fisher to do it, and he said No. Del Rio decided to do it, but I don't think he was forced. Either way it's dumb considering the risk for injury on both teams.

I hate the commercials as well way to many. After a TD there are so many breaks before the other team takes the field offensively, it is ridiculous.

Re: Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
Yeah the commercials mean nothing other than they pay a large chunk of the money for the games to air in the first place.
That said, maybe Jeff Fisher should review the contracts his employer (the NFL) has with the networks and realize it's not the networks that have stipulated there be a set amount of commercial time (at minimum). Granted, the networks aren't complaining about it but ultimately the league reaps the greater reward And that's all I'm going to say

Re: Jeff Fisher: ESPN asked coaches to take timeouts late on Monday night
ESPN has forgotten about the "S" in their name...they're concentrating far too much on the "E".
