cookies question
Here at my work comp, I regularly delete my old cookies, temp internet files, and I delete the cache just to keep things running smooth. They actually ask that we do this from time to time since our system is web based.
Some days I noticed that my cookies folder remains empty all day. Why does this happen? Where are these cookies going? Is big brother watching? |

Re: cookies question
Did your ability to accept cookies get turned off for some reason?

Re: cookies question
If you WOULD like to know if Big Brother is watching, I have a simple program you can use that scans inbound queries to the computer and you could basically close the port to whoever it is.

Re: cookies question
My ability to accept cookies shouldn't change, unless it's doing it by itself. Some days my cookies register, some days they don't, it's strange.
Would this program you have get me in trouble? Wouldn't closing a port raise someone's attention? |

Re: cookies question
I just got an email, next week they're going to be installing Pest Patrol on our systems, they say they can then invisibly track our browser activity.
I'm guessing this means they aren't watching now, but will be. Great, no more Warpath for me during the day! LOL |

Re: cookies question
If they're installing Pest Patrol, they are installing spyware removal, nothing more. This program I have MAY raise someone's attention that is planning on monitoring what you're doing HOWEVER, it is something that can easily be attributed to "Windows Firewall" protection.

Re: cookies question
Also, them installing ANY type of spyware protection on your computer is only going to further prevent them from monitoring you since some spyware acts strikingly similar to "big brother".

Re: cookies question
Cookies question! I've been waiting for a thread like this! I'm partial to Milano, but every now and then I harken back to the old school days of Chips a Hoy and a big glass of milk....

The Milano's are excellent but I also like the Brussels which are little flatter and crispier. Hey JoeCrisp, when do your cookies hit the stores, they sound great. I am not a big coconut fan I do love coconut on cookies, like the Caramel Delites Girl Scout cookies ( i can never get enough of those). |

Re: cookies question
If they're watching you, they probably won't be doing so w/ software on your computer, so don't worry about that. If they're doing anything at all, its probably through a proxy server that maintains a list of blocked sites (they won't serve up the page to you).
Most companies don't have the manpower or the money to take on a serious Big Brother type role with their employees. They may bring in someone/ something to watch a specific employee, if that employee warrants it though.

Re: cookies question
No love for Oreos TAFKAS?
And yes, I agree with cpayne, you can check your IE settings and see if anything is routed through a proxy easily enough.
