# 61 Mike Pucillo
![]() Position: G Height: 6-4 Weight: 311 Born: 07/14/1979 College: Auburn NFL Experience: 5 http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302108 started 18 games in 4 years, including 6 last year as a brown. i know nothing about him. madden lists him as a 74 OVR C though, which is slightly better (and faster) than goodwin and much better than lewis kelly (other backups we've looked at). |

Re: Redskins | Pucillo signed
scouting report from scout.com
Pucillo has very good size to play in the interior offensive line and he has the experience and the versatility to line up at either guard or center. His best game is the power game. He takes a good position step and he has very good strength. He takes good angles to his blocks and when he has an angle block he can get movement in the run game. He has the agility to be effective in the short trap and he can pull and get in front of the screen play. He plays with good intelligence and he does a good job of picking up and passing off verses interior line stunts. He plays with good leverage and he locks on fairly well with his hands. He anchors well verses a strong bull rush however he struggles to handle speed and quickness. He has limited overall athletic ability and he has difficulty resetting his feet in pass protection and is vulnerable to counter moves. He can get to the second level however he is ineffective blocking a moving target and he does not work to finish his blocks. He is not effective in space and he lacks the foot quickness and lateral movement to be able to sustain his blocks consistently. Overall he needs to improve his foot work and work on technique and not rely so much on his strength. |

Re: Redskins | Pucillo signed
from his draft year (this is old):
Prospect Profile Mike Pucillo Position: Offensive Guard College: Auburn Height: 6-4 Weight: 317 Hometown: Brandon, Fla. Career Notes | Agility | High School | Personal | Stats ANALYSIS Positives: Intelligent lineman who compensates for a lack of an athletic physique with sound technical skills … Has effective linear speed … Shows good hand placement and takes excellent blocking angles with surprising quickness, despite his frame … Dominates defenders with his lateral agility, showing suddenness to reach and zone … Knows how to sink his hips to maintain balance … Shows good explosion coming off the snap … Makes blocks based on very good use of his hands … Takes advantage of leverage to make up for a lack of brute strength … Can pull and connect on the move, using his techniques to defeat and control opponents. Negatives: Needs to dedicate himself more in the weight room … Very weak in the lower-body region … Has a tendency to put his head down, which causes him to lose balance … Struggles in pass protection when he stands too upright and must remember to keep his hips down low to be effective in this area … Marginal, at best, as an incline blocker … Has good awareness on the field, but this gets lost in his lack of lower-body strength, as a strong power surge can send him back on his heels. CAREER NOTES Versatile lineman with experience at both guard and tackle … Came into his own as a senior, establishing himself as one of the best drive blockers in the Southeast … Started 25 consecutive games for the Tigers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2001 SEASON Started every game at right offensive guard … Earned Tiger Offensive Player of the Week honors vs. Mississippi and Florida … Graded 83.5 percent for blocking consistency and came up with 71 key blocks for an offense that generated 3,947 yards, an average of 358.8 yards per game. Ball State - Collected 11 key blocks and graded 87 percent in the season opener. Mississippi - Graded 92 percent as he made eight key blocks, including one that cleared a rush lane used by tailback Casinious Moore for a 2-yard touchdown run as the team totaled 194 yards on the ground. Syracuse - Credited with three knockdowns on All-America defensive end Dwight Freeney, grading 92 percent … His cut block on Freeney allowed quarterback Jason Campbell to turn the right corner en route to a 44-yard touchdown run. Mississippi State - Followed with a 94 percent grade, taking down defensive tackle Dorsett Davis on a sweep to the left side, paving the way for Moore’s 50-yard scoring scamper. Florida - Graded a season-high 97 percent as he collected 10 key blocks, including one that leveled linebacker Andra Davis on a 1-yard scoring plunge by Daniel Cobb on a quarterback sneak. |
