Holding on to Novak

There is some speculation that Novak may be gone soon. I am starting to think we should keep him on the roster. I know it is unorthodox to keep 2 kickers but Hall has a history of injuries and I don't want some other lame ass team (feebles, cowpukes) getting their grubby paws on him. I hope he gets a job somewhere 'cause he has been big for us, but I hope it's somewhere in the AFC west.

I think we'll maybe IR Hall and stick withNovak. That keeps both away from other teams. I would guess Frost becomes kickoff man.

I aggree it is abit unorthodox to keep to kickers, but with Hall's injuries I would hate to count on him and he get hurt and then we are stuck getting some scrub. Novak hs performed well. If we have to pick one or the other I would almost pick Novak.

Re: Holding on to Novak

You guys are talking like Hall is the starter this week. Is there something I don't know? Is Hall the starter?

All I know is he is hoping to start. I just know they will have to make the decision at some point, whether it is this week or next week.

Re: Holding on to Novak

John Hall has been talking it up this week, and that he's had his first full practices since going down with injury. Gibbs as also mentioned that they will not keep 2 kickers on the roster...

Which is unfortunate, because Novak won't clear waivers in order for us to keep him on the practice squad. But, there is no reason to keep a kicker on the practice squad, especially when Morten Andersen is looking for work

Re: Holding on to Novak

I just REALLY don't want Novak to go to the Eagles or Cowboys. BOTH need kickers...

I don't know where you saw that Gibbs would not keep two kickers but at this point of the season and with all of Hall's injurys I think it would be hard not to have a back up kicker. If we did release Novak and Hall gets hurt does anyone know who would kick for us?

I don't know how much depth we need at other positions, but if everyone can get healthy, I think we have to keep two kickers at least until we know for sure about Hall.

Here's the article from the Post

"We'll wait to the end of the week," Gibbs said. "It's week to week. [Today] we do most of our kicking. [Hall] took quite a bit [yesterday]. We'll monitor it."
Now granted, it's from the Post, where they are still crying over their tiff with the Skins, but with injuries elsewhere, and Gibbs preferring Vets to rookies, you'd have to almost guess that come Sunday, Novak will be gone.

Re: Holding on to Novak

I'd say that Novak, even if he doesn't make the active roster this week, will remain on the team until next week. If Hall does kick and strains something, we don't want to end up in a "Philadelphia Eagles" situation where we're scrambling to sign someone because our 90% healthy kicker can't hold up to the strain of the game.

Re: Holding on to Novak

I'd much rather be scrambling to find a DL or DB than a kicker. Kickers score POINTS.

Thats kind of scary that we may have to rely on Hall with his leg problems. If it was his first injury, I'd say no big deal. This has been an on going non contact problem which might flar up at any time. I just hope they think this out before letting him go. If he does leave our O just has to score enough points so we don't have to rely on a last min. field goal.
