Hmmm would Danny let him wear Monk's #81?

Interesting. We're definitely desperate for a quality wideout as we go into our last 6 games. Question is, are we that desperate? Or would Gibbs ever let a clown like T.O. on his sideline?

I don't know if we are that desperate to pick up TO. However, I will guarantee you that if we are, he will not be wearing #81.

A six game deal with alot of incentives. I think TO would be OK for a few games he does not need anymore problems and I bet he would love to play against Philly.

I am sure the skins will take a run at signing TO (as I said back when this all started) but its unlikely TO will want to come here as he will want to go to a potential super bowl contender (which the skins no longer are).

My prediction: TO goes to Dallas.

Well the article said if he's released it will work like a Waiver Wire situation with the worst teams getting the first shot to sign him in order. So we would get a shot before Dallas and maybe we take him just so Dallas can't get him. I would assume he would be picked up long before that situation arose.

Re: Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversy

I have a question I don't know if someone knows the answer if T.O gets released in this year he gets in to the waiver wire wich means taht the team with the worst record has first dibbs to chose him.

to explain it better al the teams that want T.O have to say the ywant him before the waiver ends and the team with the worst record gets him that means if Dallas, Denver and Houston claim him he would go to houston.

My question is if he goes to houston can he then say I don't want to play with them or does he has to sign a contract that houston gives him what happens if he doesn't whant to sign with a bad team?

I have no idea how that would work.. But we will hear every detail ten times over on SportsCenter in the coming days.

I would think that if a team was intrested in TO and he did not want to play for them they would not sign him to a deal. It would just mean trouble for that team. Look at how much trouble the Eagles had and they were a team he wanted to play for. I think TO if signed with a team he is happy with would be OK for a couple of years.

Here's what happens:

1) The Eagles waive him.
2) Teams opt to either claim him off waivers, or pass on him.
3) If any team claimed him off waivers, he goes to the worst team (determined by record) who claimed him. If this happens, he takes the contract he signed in Philly with him, his new team will have to pay him based on that contract.
4) If no team claims him off waivers, he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with anyone.

Now I think someone will claim him, for sure. But the thing is he's already unhappy with his contract. He said so over the summer. Whoever picks him up will know that they have to deal with a huge headache.

Also, the Skins can't pick him up off waivers, we don't have the cap room. That 3.75 million base salary needs to fit under the cap, and prorated to the 6 remaining games, that's about 1.5 million or so. We don't have that much room. It's impossible for him to be a Redskin.

In other words, whoever grabs him has to have at least 1.5 million available under this year's cap.

I'm glad we have some people on this site who can understand how these contracts, trades, and the cap work. I stop trying to understand how it all works long ago. Thanks for the info, and how long has it taken for you to learn how all this works?

Glad to help. On the salary cap, I work in the finance field, so I think I can grasp the concepts because they sound somewhat similar to the way things are accounted for in business. Terms like prorating and allocation are second nature to me. Plus, since I'm a numbers guy, my eyes actually don't glaze over and go crosseyed when reading one of John Clayton's salary cap analyses. So I just ended up reading a lot of those types of articles over the last 5 years or so.

CrazyCanuck is also very helpful on this site with that stuff. I learned a fair amount from him too, looking at his salary cap spreadsheets.

I'm amazed (and appalled) that we're even talking about the possibility of signing T.O. :vomit:
