The Campbell Windup
Ok, Im not raining on the parade, it was a nice surprise win. Ya gotta love Campbell's poise, and he does throw a pretty long ball. His windup though concerns me. It seems like it takes that ball a REALLY long time to get out of his hands, and he might have some real problems with teams that blitz alot. What do you guys think?

Re: The Campbell Windup
Did you read the Jaworski review of him? They said his wind-up is most definitely nothing to worry about. It was stated it was about average for most QBs in the league.

![]() But he also seems to have a good feel for the pocket, so hopefully that will help him avoid sacks if he does take a bit longer than normal to wind up.

Re: The Campbell Windup
I agree, he has a buggywhip delivery and takes forever to throw some passes. Hopefully this wont be too big of an issue as he develops.

Re: The Campbell Windup
Straight from Jaws:
"I think he drops it a hair low here, but nothing I'd be overly concerned with," he says. "I played with Randall Cunningham for a few years, and Randall had a real big arc. . . . If you want to look at an elongated delivery, look at [Jacksonville's] Byron Leftwich. . . . This is not a major problem."

Yeah, I read the article and it did make me feel better, but man watching Campbell throw that arm back is like watching a robot! It really hasn't effected him the past 2 games, so maybe its not an issue, but I bet Atlanta blitzes the shit out of us next week and challenges how quickly he can get rid of the ball. |

Re: The Campbell Windup
I know Jaws is old enough to have watched Billy Kilmer throw, and it took him five seconds just to wind up, suprisingly, his career lasted a long time. I'm going to adhere to that old addage "If it's not broke, don't fix it"

Re: The Campbell Windup
He's fine.
You want to see a wacky delivery? Look at Leftwich. |

Re: The Campbell Windup
The only time I noticed it yesterday was on the play right before the Cooley TD. He had blind-side pressure and if the defender had been a step closer he would have had an easy strip. I was yelling at the T.V., "get rid of it!".(which he did) Other teams will take note of that play for sure.
On the plus side, he did have the pocket awareness to unload it just in time. Something to keep an eye on.

I mentioned this last week and was immediately jumped on. Looks like I was not the only one who noticed this.

Re: The Campbell Windup
It's well known that his delivery is a bit unconventional, but again it's not a big deal according to most including Jaws who makes a living analyzing QBs.

Re: The Campbell Windup
Jaws is one of the few that I think most of us respect.
