OTA Videos on Redskins.com = Good Stuff

Hey guys,

I'm sure many of you have been following the daily OTA video clips on Redskins.com, as I have. If not, they are great for a pre-pre-pre-season Redskins fix, which I'm sure we're all dying for at this point.

Anyone have any observations after watching these videos?

My take: The "Receivers" and "Brandon Lloyd" videos today were probably the best yet - they showed our QBs throwing outs to our WRs. With the caveat that yeah, it's too early to tell much of anything, I will say this: man, we have some serious speed. Watching Moss, Lloyd, and Randle El run their routes is exciting even in practice. Lloyd made one outstanding finger-tip catch. As for our QBs, (although it is hard to tell who is throwing each of the passes because the camera is on the WRs), I thought Mark Brunell looked the best. He led all the receivers well, and his velocity was decent. Jason Campbell threw the hardest, as well as the tightest spirals, but he threw a couple of passes either behind the receiver or not far enough ahead, which caused the receiver to slow down. This is probably to be expected, but I just thought I'd offer what I saw. In my opinion, from all of one drill, it seemed apparent who the starter was.

The receivers video is nice. Brandon Lloyd is a monster..he makes a sweet finger tip catch right in from of the camera and then changes directions in about a half a second. He is a beast.

the video was better last year, right up until it cost the team OTA days :/

now its much shorter (no 20minute videos of practice), but i guess its better than nothing. i'll be at TC again this year though. gotta see it in person at least once.

Is is just me or do others of you think that Brunell throws a very catchable ball? Sometimes his long ball does not have a lot of velocity, but he throws them in such away that they seem to be easy to catch. Several of his little flat passes last year just seem to always be in the right place for the guy coming out of the back field to be able to make the catch and take off running. I think this is one of those other intangible things that made Brunell easy to pick over Ramsey in the past. Even the wonderful TD pass form Ramsey to Moss in the 2nd Giants game, was an uncatchable pass that Moss twisted around and made Ramsey look good. Just an observation from the coments above comparing Campbell to Brunell. Campbell needs to learn some touch.

Brunell definitely has a nice touch on the ball, and when he's on he can place it just about anywhere he wants.

Awesome tip, MonkManiac! I never watch those videos because I just assume they will be stupid...thinking about it now, I have no idea why I would assume this (I literally read every bit of Skins and football minutia on the internet anyway!)

I'll have to keep up with these...thanks for the heads up!

Most of them are pretty stupid, but the last couple of days they've had some decent content. There is also a Sean Taylor interview on there from a couple of weeks back that was encouraging. Hopefully Larry Michael (George Michael's estranged brother?) keeps the quality content coming.

Re: OTA Videos on Redskins.com = Good Stuff

Some of the vids are cool, some are lame. But that's what I've come to expect from Redskins.comTV. I really love those ads they've placed in the beginning, we really need to have more Redskins stuff shoved down our throats.
