Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

I just wanted to give my first Lemar Marshall praising post. I really think he stepped up from being down on our depth chart in previous years and really took the leader role on defense when his number was called.

Time really flies, after break ups with horribles like M.Barrow and J.Trotter, Marshall became the starting MLB in 05 produced 69 tackles, last season something happened (the magic of G.Williams) he added 98tackles, 2 sacks and 4INTs to his resume. I am very excited to thinking of the DL will have a pass rush, flushing more ball carriers out of the pocket or abandoning their gaps leading into the arms of marshall. Losing lavar I especially look forward to the pass rush leading to dump offs in the back or flat testing LA's past area. Reading up on how A. Archuleta is some sort of freak when it comes to training that teams will settle for plays beneath the safeties in Marshall's territory. Not enough praise and dues are paid to Lemar for directing the D and shutting down the middle- he always has his assignment and hardly gets caught out of position. His average speed is compensated by his knowledge of the opposition. He is one guy I would avoid banging heads with.As soon as we find a dynamic headbuster to replace and be the LA we wanted, every inch on the field will be no safe place to advance.Do you guys think he was used in plenty of blitzing situations last year? I think I remember him always in the backfield and at times only a few steps away from sacking.

With having minimal needs for next year basically it seems just 4 spots to build on CB, OL/DL, OLB.

I agree. I think Lamar did just as good as Pierce last year at middle linebacker. He's underrated, even amongst fans of our own team. I've made a couple posts about this, but i think we should have a Lemar Marshall avatar made. I'd make it myself, but i pretty much suck at photoshop.

Ohh damn i forgot about Pierce in 04, so really Marshall i think was playing OLB. Last season was his first year playing that position. Sorry, I was getting confused. Damn, he is the man.

I expect him to put up more INTs and sacks. Having Carter who is tall and can leap like a frog, just think about all the batted balls and tip drills. This team is mos def. gonna win the TO ratio, giving it back to a newly contructed Offense. I think were building a monopoly among sports.

Lemar is really good. Really good. He might be the most underrated defender in the NFL outside of maybe Kyle Vanden Bosch. Pierce might be better, but hes starting to get national media attention in NY.

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

Yeah, Pierce really made us jealous last year, but we knew he would. sucks to have to see him twice but our Marshall surely is top ten MLB currently. Let me start a list.
1. Urlacher
2. J.Farrior
3. Ray Lewis
4.D.Edwards
5. JVilma
6. APierce
7.MPeterson- Jax
8. Marshall--DC
9. Brackett IND
10.Tatupa Sea

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

marshall has slightly above average speed (especially for a MLB), he was a safety in college. Washington had 7.5 sacks last year (hint: he's really good at it), and clemons was used to rush from the other side, which leaves marshall as a cover guy (something he's good at).

a list is kinda harsh here, cause he'd rank about 16-20th at the absolute highest among MLB/ILBs only. If you include all LBs, washington would be pretty high (around 5-10), but lemar probably wouldn't be in the top 50.

above you forgot Dan Morgan (CAR), Al Wilson (DEN), L Fletcher (BUF).

possibly bruschi, trotter, davis, vrabel, hartwell, quarles, D smith (SF), z thomas, and witherspoon as well (most are old now).

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

to me, urlacher is almost as over rated as m vick. jonathon vilma playing in new york is very under rated. ray lewis is still good but not that high, you have him #3. marshall is up and coming and probably ready to crack the top ten. will only be third season as a mlb

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

Marshall did a great job last year. I don't think he'll ever be considered amongst the top MLB's in the league, but he's a solid and heady player. Perfect for a GW defense.

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

marshal really seemed to control the d well on the field last season. with him going in this season knowing its his job he is going to have a breakout year. mlb is a very hard position because you are like the qb of the d. marshal did a very good job getting the d into the right positions last season and we may be looking at a probowl bid this year!!! 100+ tackles, 5 or 6 sacks, 4 int's.maybe even a defensive td or two and he will be going to hawaii!!!

just cause you're 30 doesn't mean you automatically turn to crap. there's still a lot of more productive players. Not that we need an upgrade or anything, but I just don't think it's possible to consider him an objective top ten by any means... maybe on price/performance, but not on performance or talent alone.

Re: Lemar Marshall needs some attention.

mcintosh, taylor, and rogers are the young guys on our defense. carter is 26, most others are 28-31.
