Arrested Development

I just picked up the first season of this show so I know I'm a little late to this scene but man what a hilarious show, how is this show still not on the air?

Re: Arrested Development

Nice, it's about time we started getting this off topic rolling...

Draft is too far away.

I never really got into it, when I saw it, I liked it, but in general it really didn't do anything special for me.

Does anyone know when the new season of "the office" starts? That's the funniest show on tv right now IMO.

Re: Arrested Development

Season 3 of The Office is still going right now, the season finale should be coming up soon.

Re: Arrested Development

Yeah I was curious about that. It's been all repeats the past couple of weeks.

It's making me insane... I hope Jim kicks pam's ex-boyfriends ass.

"No Touching!"

Arrested development is amazing. I was out of the country when it started and didn't get into it until after the first season came out on DVD. I've seen all the episodes, and while the first season was my favorite, it stayed strong throughout.

Nobody watched it. Made it hard for Fox to keep it on. It is funny but not mass popular funny. Too bad mass popular funny generally sucks. No wonder the sitcom is dead.

Re: Arrested Development

Yeah, I watched the first season DVD after someone gave it to me for Christmas and laughed my ass off.

Part of the problem with it, IMO, was that it would be hard to come into the middle of the series since it built on each episode.

Re: Arrested Development

Coincidentally, "The Office" is suffering from the same kind of problem AD faced- hilarious writing, cult viewership, low ratings. I applaud NBC for trying to keep good television on the air as long as they can, despite the numbers.

Re: Arrested Development

I love that show but I can really see why it didn't last long. Maybe a channel like HBO could save it, but it's definitely a required taste.

My other favorite cult-ish sitcoms right now are Scrubs and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. All three of those shows make me laugh my ass off, but I can still watch reruns all the time.

Yeah I can see where it's not a show for the masses. It's certainly not the first time a quality show couldn't cut it, and not the last time either.

The Office didn't bring high ratings in season 1, but in seasons 2 & 3 it's really taken off.
