Eddie George officially agrees to a deal with the Cowboys

As was said by most in the previous thread regarding Eddie George, I'm not terrified by the idea of him in Dallas. |

George hasn't been a threat for the past couple of years. However, he does fit in well with Parcells offense because he can pound the ball. I still believe that if there's any RB who should be feared in the NFC east its Portis.
Guys we shouldn't worry one bit over this guy. He won't get more than 20 touches and his average is 3 yards per carry. Not a threat at all. |

Me either - one has only to look back to the last time we played him in 2002 (Ramsey's first game) - we held him to 26 yds rushing. And he's two yrs older now. |

He is just another in a long line of aging running backs who think they have still got it. Is there any other position in sports with such a short window of excellence? Im happy he signed in the NFC East, but I was hoping he would go to Philadelphia. He cant do anything and he will only moan and add to locker room strife

Not Terrified? Were you terrified when Hambrick ran all over us last year. Were you terrified when Emmit had an almost career day when he was using his walker. You cannot take anyone too lightly these days. On the better note our defense will be better prepared then the last couple of years. WELCOME BACK COACH GIBBS!!!!

plus if anything, like I said in the other thread about this, george is almost the perfect type of rb for parcell's way of running an offense and is the best available choice to to help teach the rookie jones how to make the progression from college to the pros. I just find it hard to believe that so many people r sleeping on george when the guy produces week in and week out no matter how hurt he is or how "old" his body gets. and anyone who believes he doesn't make dallas' running back group stronger is living in a state of denial.

The Eddie George signing by Dallas reminds me of another (more expensive) signing a few years ago.
Deion Sanders. One of the stated reasons we went so hard after Deion was that we didn't wan't to see him with a division rival. If Dallas signed him we would face him twice a year again, and that was too much. With Dallas "on the rise", I think they can't stand to see Philadelphia improve - which the George signing would do for that team. I think George helps the Cowboys (who need to work their rookie) less than it helps the Eagles (who would complete their backfield committee), but the Cowboys don't want the Eagles any better, so they are paying. Either way, if our defense is up to par, the signing shouldn't hurt us too badly. George is a three yard per carry back, who has durability concerns.
