Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
Why in the world do you think he would hold out? Contract?
This is a stand up kid, chompin at the bit to get to work. He'll be there!

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
I sure hope not! He is going to be a force with ST back there. Also, we really need him to be ready to start day in week one. Holding out would only prolong him getting into the line-up.

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
Its always possible, the last hold out we had was Patrick Ramsey i believe, so our front office is pretty good at getting the rookies out there. As far as Landry being a stand up kid, thats more than likely true, but most hold outs have nothing to do with the player, but more to do with the agent, see Heath Shuler.

I don't even recall a holdout in the past few years.

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
Why would he hold out? He is going to get a nice fat contract. I mean, come on, he is now an instant millionaire. The Skins will give him what a #6 deserves and maybethen some with the Danny!!!!!

Daseal, is there any one thing in particular that makes you think Landry might be a holdout, or is it just something you're throwing out there? Personally, I hope he's not a hold-out, we need all our young players in camp on time, and espically in Landry's case because he's a projected starter.

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
I seriously doubt it, this kid looks like he wakes up in the morning looking to hit someone, I don't think he could contain himself not being on the field for the start of training camp.

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
From what I understand we have about $3.5M in our rookie pool, the majority of which will go to Landry. That means he can have a nice base salary, and I'm sure we'll give him in the neighborhood of $20M guaranteed, with a good signing bonus included in that. He'll be in camp. He's not a primadonna like a lot of these top draft picks.

Re: Will Landry Hold Out?
They only way I could see a potential "hold out" would be if for some reason the picks in front of Landry hadn't signed yet and his agent was waiting to determine the appropriate "slot" for compensation. That's not really a hold out in my mind, but rather a hold up by the agent to get more market info.
9 times out of 10 the agents are just looking at what the guy in front of or behind their client in the draft was paid by their team and adjusting down or up accordingly. There are obviously some exceptions (when a potential top ten slides way down i.e., Quinn this year). Keep an eye on those other picks and you'll have a good barometer of when Landry will get signed. |
