Good and Bad

Let's start with the bad:
Unless we pull off an upset this week, I think we are most likely done as far as the playoffs this year.
Horrible coaching in regards to timeouts wasted and a few critical third down calls. Draw on 3rd and 5, 3rd and Goal from the 7. Worst calls I've ever seen.
We look scared in third and short or in the redzone (inside the 10 mostly)
We threw a game away we had in hand.
We play no huddle all game and cannot execute a 2 minute drive in crunch time (why change anything you can still run and throw to the middle of the field down by 1 with 4 minutes left)

The Good:
The 6th spot in the Playoffs is a toss up. Detroit is about to lose three straight, The Eagles still have to play the Pats.
The offense looks good. Running and passing
Campbell is the real deal
Portis is back to form
The coaches came up with a great gameplan.
All of our starters and key players are under contract next year.

I don't think we need to pull off an upset next week to make the playoffs. Even if we lose to the Giants and Cowboys twice, we can finish 9 and 7, which should be good enough. The Bears, Bucs, Vikings, and Bills are all winnable games. If we can steal one from the Cowboys or Giants will be great, but not necessary if they win the ones they should.

I hope you're right. But i don't see us winning all the games we SHOULD win, after giving up this game to a team we dictated for three in a half quarters.

Re: Good and Bad

Sadly, I agree with the original message. We blew leads with NFC foes NYG, Green Bay, and now Philly. And the teams we beat (barely) in Miami, NYJ, and Arizona are just not very good. That tells me that we're a middling team at best, not playoff material. Whether one wants to blame injuries, coaching gaffes, or crappy personnel acquisition/management (and a compelling argument can be made as to each), the fact remains that we're a team that is close to being very good, but we're simply not there.

It is a bitter pill to swallow because we ought to be a very good team. JC is a legitimate QB, Portis is now showing his old spark, the O-line is hanging together and providing holes and decent protection, we're actually getting to the other side's QB occasionally, causing some turnovers, and are playing decent special teams -- all real positives. But the mark of a playoff team is winning the winable games, and we're not doing that. Barring a surprise win against Dallas (which appears unlikely, although these games are usually close) and getting some momentum back, I think we will be cooked and things will slide further. I truly hope I am wrong, but the way Philly scored that last TD made me feel like we'd just flat out gave up in a game against an NFC division foe at home. It made me sick. :vomit:

Know that the last touchdown was a "gimme" so that we'd get the ball back with time on the clock. At that point we were "only" 8 points down with a chance to get even and had 2:15 (if I remember correctly) left on the clock.

So letting that last touchdown be scored quickly was a great strategic move...

I think people are ignoring the point that Dallas is a better team than the Giants by a lot though.

The Giants game is a very, very winnable game for us. By then, I think we will even be favored over them.

That's 3 competitive games and 2 that would be an upset (both Dallas games). We only need to win 4 to make the playoffs, although Tampa and Minnesota both may turn out to be must wins. We will beat Buffalo and Chicago.

We simply need a little bit of luck. If we can upset Dallas just once, we pretty much make the playoffs anyway.

We have nothing to lose in this game.

Great strategic move by GW...but I really think they would have gotten in the end zone anyway if we had tried. We just saved about 30 seconds by letting him in.

Turnovers kill.
