Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

So Chris Wilson came out of nowhere (at least to me) with 2 sacks today and 2 tackles. What do we know about this guy other than he's a rookie undrafted free agent? Does he have starting potential next year? I didn't get to watch the ENTIRE game, was he playing well?

I guess the main thing I'm interested in is if he could be a good compliment to Carter as Wilson develops. What does everyone think?

I think he is what he is - and that is a situational pass rusher. I don't think he's an every down player, but I would like to see him a little more in those situations.

Give him another year to bulk up and watch out, a solid find by our FO.

I totally agree with 12thMan. Until Wilson bulks up, he would be a liability playing on running downs. I've maintained all along that priority one in the next draft should be a two-way defensive end, who plays run and rushes the QB.

He was a free agent from the Canadian football league I believe....ME LIKEY.
He is a situational pass rusher...definately a keeper in that roll...we haven't had one of those in several years

Yup. At 240 pounds he's not an every-down DE.

Re: Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

as has been said, hes too small to be an every down dlineman, and other than tonight he hasnt really stood out. he has been playing all year as a situational rusher, so no way is he a potential starter in my mind

Chris Clemons is having a very solid year for the Raiders.

Re: Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

he's just like clemons. he comes in to run to the QB and then subs back out.

GW is using him the right way, and it is what it is. another decent role player (though clemons, who he replaced, was better).

Re: Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

He definitely has potential though he needs to get bigger and stronger to be an effective every down DE.

12th hit it right on the head. rush the passer, then go get a blow on the bench

Re: Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

I think he's shown that he deserves more playing time, I'd much rather see him rush the passer than see Marcus Washington playing with his hand on the ground. But the flashes that we're seeing now, I think he can develop into a starter. He's not a finished product by any means.

I like the CFL connection we've got going, Sellers, Wilson and didn't Antonio Brown from last year come from the CFL?

Yeah he is a baller ! A friend of mine keeps saying that he should start but he's fine where he is IMO. He's going to be a really good player though. Really glad to see that he's gotten this far after meeting him at the Luncheon. He was really cool, very, VERY humble.

Re: Chris Wilson? Potential Starter?

Bottom line, if he come in and do this every so often I think we got our money's worth. If he does it consistently, then he's exceeded expectations.
