Redskins Deny Bryant Johnson Visit Scheduled

"Johnson is definitely interested in the Bills as a potential employer. Advantages for the Bills, they have a #2 WR role open for the taking. Receivers coach Tyke Tolbert was his receivers coach in Arizona his rookie year so there's some familiarity there.

The only negative is Johnson does have another visit scheduled and it's with the Redskins."

After looking at some freaking stats, what does Johnson have over Reche Caldwell besides 2 inches (insert joke here)?

LOL! We don't need this guy. He's a first round bust. Penn State WR's rarely turn out to be good pro's. Someone is going to overpay for him and I hope it's not us. I'd rather have Hackett.

My question is why? They've had similar stats and Caldwell has been healthier than Hackett. I'm not saying either should be a number one, must like SS is saying. But I'm thinking let's not waste money on people like Hackett or Johnson in free agency and let's talk about the draft.

TMC, post the stats! If this is true let's keep Caldwell. What I saw in Hackett in the playoff game is a budding star, a playmaker. Caldwell's game didn't impress me the same. If Caldwell doesn't sign elsewhere (Is he the same highly coveted FA WR as Hackett and Johnson?) by all means, bring him back.

Reche Caldwell:

DJ Hackett:

Again, similar stats. And one game does not an all star make. Much like one game does not a "bust" make (in Caldwell's case).

Caldwell has been around for several years and I think we've kind of seen what he is going to be. We're his 3rd team?? Good players don't tend of bounce around to 3 teams in 5 years. WR's like Caldwell are a dime a dozen. With Hackett we really don't know yet. I know when he was healthy last year he had some big games. That is why he's kind of on the radar because of his potential. But if we have to give Hacket a new deal and it's going to cost a lot of $ then I say we pass. I'd rather us get a DE and a guard and upgrade the WR's next year.

This is what I'm saying in general. I think that because of the market this year, we're setting ourselves up to pay a lot for someone mediocre. That's why I think Caldwell might come cheaper than Hackett or Johnson.

you cant just look up this guys stats, he was a number 3 behind two of the best in the game, that doesnt mean anything. The guys never been given a chance becuase of that, but he has all the tools. Two inches a lot apparently because those two inches makes you a lot of money these days. We need a number 2, zorn said he wants el in the slot...

I feel like a broken record with this.

Are we forgetting that Johnson was pretty highly regarded coming out of college? He was a 1st rounder. We're not talking about Keenan McCardell barely getting drafted here.

More importantly though, he started nearly half the season each of the last two years and his numbers are hardly staggering.

Did you not read SC Skins Fan's post? He was given a shot for eight games as a starter last year when Anquan Boldin went down, and he didn't do much. He was also drafted ahead of Boldin back in 2003, so he had a better shot at starting then and producing, but he didn't. Boldin became a pro bowler, and he became a number 3 receiver.

"Insert Joke Here"...that's what she said! Zing!!

Seriously though, if we want a number 2 to complement Santana Moss then I think Reche Caldwell is just fine.

But if we're looking for a #1 WR then we probably need to push a trade for Johnson or Roy Williams.

I guess two inches shorter WOULD be a joke!

In my mind Johnson has a little more upside. He is stuck behind 2 pro bowlers in Arizona. I wouldn't mind Johnson, but I would still rather try and get a trade for a true #1 WR.
