What Brought you to The WarPath?

Hey guys, I am a new proud member of The Warpath as of today, and wanted to tell you how I got here. I would also like to know what brought all of you here:

My name is Mark and I was on ExtremeSkins since December of 2005. Last night, i got banned for life. I promise you people, i didn't do anything wrong. I was just another victim of what some of us here call "The Great ES Purge" of 2009. Basically a few mods that need to get a day job started banning everybody who didnt have a positive opinon about ES.

The board is obviously censored, and the moderators there do not set a very good example, or make the redskins look very good right now, as they are now "officially" owned by the redskins...

My screename there was SolidSnake84 for anyone who remembers me or knew me from there.

I am happy to be here and hope to serve out the rest of my Redskin days here. I have not asked for re-instatement to ES nor will I.

Re: What Brought you to The WarPath?

I saw what got you banned over at ES...and I must say that seemed kind of odd to ban you over that. Is there more to that story? You can PM me

Anyhow, a few years ago I was just looking to talk Redskins with some people beyond my immediate circle of friends and family. The main thing that attracted me to this site were Sheriff Gonna Getcha's eyes....um, er, I mean...

Seriously though, the site had a great, clean look to it which made reading posts easy. So I spent a few weeks just reading the site and then one day decided to start posting

I dont have any problem telling my story to the members here:

I got banned for 1 week for the first time ever back in August of 2009 for getting into it with another poster. He was trashing John Riggins and all this garbage and i just lost it and kind of flipped out on him. That was my fault.

I came back in September and went without incident, until the whole issue started on whether or not extremeskins was censored. I posted how i felt that the board was censored, but not in the way they were making it out to be. Basically saying that the Mods controlled the opinions on the board, and that threads they didn't like were always locked or deleted (100% factual)

I didn't get banned, but the mods went all crazy and stuff and basically told people that if they didn't like how the site was ran, they could go F theirselves and all this stuff. another guy spoke up and said that he thought how they were talking to people was wrong, and Jumbo (one of the owners i guess?) locked the thread and said that they can treat people however they want whenever they want, to just deal with it.

last night was my final incident. Somebody posted about censorship again (re-occuring theme, no?), and i wrote in again and said that it seemed like posts that were unpopular were always closed down, and the general feeling among members was that people were scared to post, in fear of being banned or flamed (also 100% true). I also said that looking back in hindsight, are the owners of the thread still glad that they merged in 2005 with the Redskins. I wasn't being ignorant, it's just that things were much better way back then when the redskins didn't control the board....I guess they had enough and banned me for life. Jumbo told me i was too stupid to post there and that anbody who agreed with me would be banned too.

And the funny thing is, on the topic of censorship...right before my permanent ban, a guy started a thread called "F### Dan Snyder", and the thread was closed and the member got a lifetime ban....how ironic

Re: What Brought you to The WarPath?

my brother was/is a member. He was on, I saw it, I joined. Great site for talking Skins and other off-topic stuff. ES definitely is too hard to read, unless you can change color patterns. Never spent much of any time over there. not heartbroken over that.

Re: What Brought you to The WarPath?

Don't do that. Don't go joining a board just to go tell people to F themselves. We're not going to have a board battle here. There's nothing to gain from that.

They have their board and we have ours. There are some good members and good posts over on ES. But while you're here, just follow our rules, ask the mods if you have any questions, and everything will be fine.

Re: What Brought you to The WarPath?

One day back in 2002 I was pulling staff duty and as a result I had to stay up all night. I took some time out to surf the web because I was looking for some news and information on the Skins. At the time the Skins website was trash and they rarely ever updated news, rosters, ect. Using google I came across this gem. I created a user account and read the forums that night. I do not believe that I even posted once under that user account. Since I didn't have a computer at home I never used the account outside of the times that I had to pull staff duty. Later that year I got deployed to the sandbox. Once I returned I couldn't remember my old username or password so I just created a new account. I have been here since.

I think that they did something in 2004 that got rid of my old account. If you notice even Matty's join date is Feb 2004, but the forum dates back to 1999. I could be wrong though.

The Warpath originated in '99 on Yahoo. Eventually I moved it to it's own server and in 2004 we had a big site crash. Lost everything. I've since learned some valuable lessons such as keeping regular backups.

FIY, the Gallery is still broken because it's pointing to redskinswarpath.com.
