CP on NFL Network
I really think this time that the redskins will be on nfl network. I believe that I saw on the bottom of the screen that clinton portis will be on skins cam. Finally I get to see some of my players getting some face time. Also I hope that he put an end on all that noise about Sean Taylor not being here in time for camp.

I love the way we need to rely on Portis to give us the whereabouts of Sean Taylor. I hate all these "U" guys...

Portis is more than a great back - I expect him to be a league-wide superstar in the coming years.

Re: CP on NFL Network
I'm really excited about, and I'm sure Portis is as well, to see more running plays tailored to his style this year. He said that Gibbs told him they averaged 5 yards a pop on stretch plays last year. I'm sure we'll see alot more of that this year, and in turn hopefully a 1500+ yard season for CP.

And with the line that we have, I wouldn't think it was out of the question for him to get 1600-1700+. He definitely has the amount of attempts required.

How would we all feel about Portis if the Redskins were the ones who drafted him and he demanded a new deal or a trade with years left on his rookie contract? If Portis is a great leader why can't he convince his fellow "U" boy Taylor to at least return Gibbs phone calls? |

Re: CP on NFL Network
What does being a good leader have to do with getting someone to return phone calls?

Re: CP on NFL Network
I would think if he is a leader he would at least have the clout to get one of his teammates to call his head coach. Or are you saying that does not fall under the category of what a leader would do?

Re: CP on NFL Network
He can be a good leader, just not a flawless leader. Since we don't know ANY details, there could be something very personal going on in Sean's life that we don't know about or have any business in knowing about that may not be related to football in any way. Maybe he's seen how everything he says and does gets over-hyped and he doesn't want that publicity.
Maybe HE'S the baby's daddy to Britney Spears. We'll see if he kicks right out of her womb...

He can ask ST til he's blue in the face to call Gibbs, if ST says nah, I'm not going to call him does that make CP a poor leader?? I don't see much of a connection there between leadership and getting a guy to make a phone call. This situation is all about Taylor, not Portis. |

As much as he and everyone else talks about character, Gibbs has had guys like this before. Look at Riggins, Manley, I'm sure there were a couple more....they had their own issues and were a pain in the ass to deal with, but they had the talent and ability on the field to make it worthwhile. I'm not saying I agree with it, but as long as the guy shows up to mandatory camp in shape and continues to perform and improve in games, I could care less what he does the remainder of the time. |

Re: CP on NFL Network
So by that argument, are you saying that Gibbs is not a true leader?

Re: CP on NFL Network
I'm not being a jackass, I just like people to think about their logic.
![]() Like I said in my post before, you can be a good or even great leader and still not have EVERYONE be on board. Also, since we have no facts to go on about Taylor (besides that it's not about contractual obligations), we are all assuming away and it could turn out to be something very forgivable.

Re: CP on NFL Network
on thursday nfl total access will have a feature about carlos rogers and jason campbell. cp is also becoming a vocal leader, but you can't blame him for trying not hard enough to get st back to camp. he's done all he can, and he can only go so far. i can't wait to watch total access tonight to see if they talk about st.
