Sean Taylor's lawyer was on 980 today

I was reading nfl.com today and was reminded of a few other of Taylors "mistakes" since leaving college.

Taylor was charged with drunken driving in October after attending a birthday party for receiver Rod Gardner. Those charges were dismissed, but Taylor was convicted for refusing to take a blood-alcohol test. The conviction was later dismissed.

Taylor also has fired two agents, was fined for skipping one day of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium and was accused of spitting on a player during a game at Cincinnati.

Not such a good citizen as his lawyer might try and imply.

Unless he's on the field...he's not a Redskin and I could care less about him.

When you are young like he is,and you have lived a certain way all your life, it's hard to change. He is his own worst enemy. I just hope he does'nt have to go to jail as an example to other nfl players. If he pleads guilty, he's suspended 4 games is'nt he?

I am curious what exactly is the CERTAIN WAY he lived his life? From my understanding taylor has had no legal problems outside of the past year, and he was said to be a good student at his privat prep high school.

But if he pleads guilty then i couldn't care less what gibbs does, i will trust gibbs, if gibbs says 8 games OK, if he says 10 Ok if he says 16 I am fine with it, because right now i am guessing that he is innocent but if he admits to having a gun, i will stand by gibbs in what ever he descides. But yes i believe he will be suspended for about 4 games if he pleads guilty.

I believe that Sean Taylor's father was a police chief - or a career police officer. So, it is difficult for me to see how he had an upbringing that did not involve some dimensions around "respect for the law". Or maybe I'm imagining how I might have reacted to such an upbringing...

For a first time offense of the league's personal conduct policy (convictions or guilty pleas) the penalty is 1-4 games, commissioner's discretion. Based on his past rulings 2 games is the norm.. I highly doubt the Redskins will add anything more to the league suspension..

Taylor's father is a police chief in Florida City, FL (south of Miami) but I don't know how much of a relationship they have.. The article posted recently seemed like his mother and grandmother were his primary parental influences. I seem to recall reading that his parents were divorced or split up (if never married) shortly after his birth. If he didn't have much or a good relationship with his father that could be a reason why he seems to buck the system..

Taylor says that his mother and his father were always there for him whenever he needed them, his father made him do well at school and he lived with his father at times which was only two miles from this incident

Judging by what people have said about Sean as a person, he's completely different around his friends rather than his teammates and family. I think it all comes down his choice of friends. I mean he's been donating money and helping out his family...

Any suspension by the league or the team is nothing compared to what will happen to him if he is found or pleads guilty. Florida has a mandatory 3 year sentence for the crime has has been charged with. Aggravated assault with a firearm is a serious offense in FL.
