I would hope they'd be fired up regardless of his health status.

My condolences go out to the Mara family, and the Giants organization.

Re: Wellington Mara died

My condolences go out to the Mara family as well. Willington Mara was a true pioneer in the NFL. Always putting the league ahead of the team. The Mara's where one of the last great NFL family's of wich the NFL will probably never see the likes of again. This truly is a sad day for the NFL.

Re: Wellington Mara died

what an amazing life

Well this can't help the skins this weekend. The fans will be cheering louder and the players will be playing harder. A really hard game just made tougher

Re: Wellington Mara died

I think we are overestimating the effect the death of an owner who had taken himself out of daily team operations will have on the team/fans. By and large, it's hard enough to get people to shut the hell up for a moment of silence, much less actually pay respect to the man. I wouldn't expect that most attendees will care one way or the other.

I agree. I really don't think this will affect the outcome of the game at all. It's just kind of sad to see the end of an era.

I think you underestimate what this man means to Giants fans. If they ask for an HOUR of silence, they will get it.

I belive Mara was a co-owner and really didnt have much control of the team the last couple of years. I'm not sure who the other guy was, even though I've heard his name alot the past couple days. Coggs might know for sure.

Re: Wellington Mara died

Robert Tisch was the co-owner. I guess for now he's the sole owner

Re: Wellington Mara died

Yeah, it is Tisch, but Wellington was only ONE of the Mara sons. I believe they all had a piece of the pie, but Wellington was the main guy. When Tisch bought in, I'm sure it was set up in a way so the team would remain in the Mara family.

Nothing against Snyder, but I wish the Kent Cooke family still owned at least a small share of the team.
