resale of Skin's tickets
Anyone know what the deal is? I know the offical policy, but it seems that it isn't enforced at all since it happens on ebay and through sites like stubhub.com. But The WashingtonTimes reported on Aug 9th that the Skins are cracking down on anyone profiting from the resale of tickets through ebay and that they have revoked 1500 season tickets from people reselling them. However, supposedly Dan Snyder stated the following in an interview on Aug 12th,
"We have no problem at all with people doing what they do on eBay or in the classified sections. What we have a hard time with is the mass scalping rings that have gone on. We think it's a shame when somebody has had 50 or 100 tickets they have no intention of using themselves. It's not in the best interests of our fan base. " So does anyone know what the real story is? |

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
I think Dan Snyder said in the ExtremeSkins interview that they have no problem with individuals re-selling tickets. They don't want ticket brokers selling them on Ebay or at the stadium...

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
I think the tickets contain language that limit resale to face value. I could be wrong though.
EDIT: Sorry - I should have read more closely. I think bjschmonsees is correct. |

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
Yeah, that is where I pasted the quote from. But the Washington times article said that the Skins were revoking tickets of people who have had the tickets for generations. One lady who had 12 tickets gave 4 of her tickets to relatives for a game and someone sold them for a profit. The Skins ticket office apparently revoked 6 of their tickets for that.

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
Thanks - yeah, it sounds like they are saying one thing and doing another.
It's pretty hypocritical considering the "face value" of club seats is under $100, yet they charge $4500 a year ($450 per seat per game) by tacking on a "club level luxury tax" so they can get around league rules for ticket pricing. Does that mean they will revoke a club level seat if you sell it for $300? (i.e., more than the face value but less than you paid for it) |

I was just going to say the same thing. I think our club tickets have a face value of $60 on them. But technically we dont acutally pay anything for football tickets. We are essentailly paying 4K a year for the right to own the seat. So any concert that comes to the stadium, we get first chance to buy our own seat. And then the football tickets are just kinda given to us and they randomly put $60 on it.

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
It sounds like the people who got nailed were unloading full season packages. It's pretty clear that if you are selling all 10 games that you have no intention of using the tickets. This is much different then someone like myself who sells a few single games that I can't make it to. That's the interpretation I took from the article and what Snyder said following the article.

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
someone mentioned to me that I should sell my individual tickets at face value and then add a profitable shipping charge. It was a thought.

Re: resale of Skin's tickets
I think its is about time that they start to go after the full time ticket sellers. We have had several discusions about how many other fans are buying tickets to the games. Its OK for the person to sell a game or two or even a whole season if there are reasons they can not use them but for the people who sell every ticket they need to be stopped. Sure they are going after the general addmision first because they are in such demand from people like you and I. It should not be that hard to follow a persons selling habit and nab them for ticket scalping but it will take sometime. In the article they spoke about a person who lost some of their season tickets so they must have tracked only those tickets being scalped. I don't believe she had no knowledge of what was going on because they probably didn't need 10 tickets and used the other for to help pay for the ones they used. For every scalper they catch means another opportunity for real fans like ourselfs to purchase affordable season tickets.
