You must be looking at a different column than I saw. The column I saw in The Post took up maybe one-fifth of a page. As TK says "a columnette".

This is a sarcstic response to a sarcastic TK column. Sarcastic back-and-forth banter is not being a jerk, it's humor, not meant to be taken seriously. I also live around here and took it for what it was, a humorous dig at DC & the skins, just like the humorous dig TK took at Seattle & the hags.

that sounded like it was written by someone with the maturity of 13 year old. Some writers are actually capable of coming up with some funny stuff, even about the skins, but that just reminded me of the ending scene from billy madison and I now feel somewhat more stupid for having read the peice.

You would think these guys have actually done something in the NFL the way they're talking.

That was pretty funny, but I thought Kornheiser's was funnier.

Hmmm. I'd say if your compared the two columns there is a reason that TK is famous and this guy isn't. TK at least has talent. His article was mildly entertaining and original. This guy's article simply rehashes most of the regular media bashing on people in Washington and was really not that good. I'd have laughed if it was even remotely good. It wasn't.

These articles are boring and are only entertaining in proportion to the talent of the writer, so Edge: Kornheiser.

I grew up in DC and have lived elsewhere as an adult, first in Chicago, later, and mostly, in Boston. And I am amused (and by amused, I mean irritated and annoyed) at how people confuse the itinerant windbags who come from their states to DC with the accountants, doctors, carpenters, salepeople, municipal workers, waiters, cab drivers, bank tellers, lawyers, and plumbers who make up 99.9% of the population of the DC metropolitan area and whose residency does change with the party of the current administration. The people who befoul the good name of our nation's capital from places like Califorinia (Nixon) and Illinois (Rostenkowski) and Texas (DeLay) and, of course, the sodden state of Washington (Bob "I love the way these gals shake their butts after I've had five whiskey rocks" Packwood).

There is plenty to tease Washington, DC about - Marion "That bitch set me up" Berry, DC's inability to hold on to a baseball team (and, having finally gotten one, putting it as risk by not honoring previous agreements), exploding manhole covers, mustard gas canisters buried in our backyards (and by our backyards, I mean your backyards), the Washington Wizards (remember Elvin Hayes? that was great), the Washington Capitals (remember Rod Langway, that was great), and our inability to drive in the snow.

But the misbehavior of people who come from their own states, that is no laughing matter.

Except to us.

Did you know during this week, Seattle reporters are allowed to use the word "Redskins" only once while they are on the air, and then they must refer to us as Washington the rest of the time?

Re: Seattle columnist Steve Kelley - I hope you eat every word

The local news did show the players arriving at the hotel last night. The started the segment by saying "Welcome to rainy Seattle. Better get used to it!". They keep playing up the rain angle like it is some sort of advantage. I'll take this weather over 5 degrees and sunny in Lambeau Field or 25 and snowy in Philly. Brunell went to college here. I think he knows how to deal with this "horrible" weather.

Its interesting to note how the rain angle is being played up when by total rainfall amount DC gets almost 3 inches more rain than Seattle per year.
