Compensation for Lloyd

Per SFGate.com article:

The Redskins are reportedly interested in trading for Lloyd, who led the 49ers in receptions last year. A source close to Lloyd said Washington was prepared to offer a third-round choice this season and a fourth rounder in next year's draft. Lloyd, who apparently has been secretly seeking a trade, expected the deal to be completed.

Re: Compensation for Lloyd

Is that too much?? Hard to tell.

If he's the next Santana Moss or makes that kind of leap forward, it's a steal.

If's he's the next David Patton, we got robbed.

I go by this one thing when it comes to stuff like this, if Gibbs likes him enough to pay that kind of price there must be something to it.

Two mid round picks for a RFA?

Pretty good deal for the Skins if you ask me.

I'd agree with that. I know the Skins need to add some depth, but there aren't a whole lot of players who will be available in those rounds who will have the same type of impact that Brandon Lloyd would have in his first season with us. Also, he's still a young player, but I thought he had some character issues.

he obviously does if the 49ers are so willing to part with him and he was secretly working on trades.

Yeah, he does, but to be completely honest, I think I would have "character issues" if I played for the sorry no account Niners, too. I mean, come on, they barely looked like they were trying to win last year. I'd be pretty pissed too. I know that there are plenty of guys who just shut up and play, I'm not saying it's okay to be a prick, but I think a change of scenery may be the answer for Lloyd. Plus, I have faith that Gibbs could rein this kid in.

The compensation package sounds fair to me, he's definitely not worth a 1st or 2nd rounder IMO. Just hoping we don't overpay in the salary department.

John Clayton is saying we're expected to give him a whopping $10 million SB.

Same as what Koren Robinson got right? With the new CBA rules is a $10 million SB whopping? Honestly I don't know. What did Harrison get, $13.5?

I have no clue whether the $10 million is "whopping" (as I put it earlier). But, at least under the old CBA $10 million is big, big money. I don't know the details of K. Robinson's or Harrison's contracts. I know that Reggie Wayne got about $13 million.

Maybe they see a lot in Lloyd. Maybe Lloyd will be the next Santana Moss. It just seems like a lot of dough.

Especially considering most draft analysts have rated this year's WR crop one of the worst in recent memory, and the number of "hot" FA WR is practically nil.

I don't see how we could not get our money's worth out of this deal. He can't get *worse* coming to Washington, unless he's just so used to making fingertip one-handed circus catches that he's unable to play in a normal offense.
