Why No Faith???

New poster here.

Why no faith? In the come back of Mr. Gibbs the Redskins have only improved in play, character, discipline, and respect. Why do I read these boards and see such doubt, worry?

After a few weeks of reading these threads, I got a few opinions. Nothing personal, just a rookies gut feeling.

1. Ramsey sucked. Let's move on.
2. Brunell is a football player. He gets the job done.
3. Lavar IS a big loss.
4. But I'm curious about McIntosh.
5. Holdham is improvin...
6. Our defense is not in RUIN.
7. Saunders + Gibbs....Pure Genius
9. Williams + Bugel.....Just cute.
10. Portis WILL run for over 2000....
11. Our line will be one of the best.
12 . I am bias, but not ridiculous
13. Our offense will be simply spectaculous.

Jr. Seau wouldn't have been a bad thing. Anyone remeber Monte?

It's about leadership and our backers need it.

One other thing...Brandon Ore is simply gonna kick some ass for the Hokies this year.

Re: Why No Faith???

If we were in nearly any other division in football, I'd say we're a lock for a playoff birth. Unfortunately, there will be at least two teams in our division disappointed that they're home for the playoffs, and this division I feel any team could win or come in last in this division. I think the Eagles come in last, and Giants/Cowboys/Redskins all come down to division games. I like our matchup (defensively) against both teams. If we spread the field they will be required to put their reserve DBs in, and that's one position no teams in our division have a whole lot of depth at.

The Cowboys offense will be good, I think that line will play above potential. And Terry Glenn and TO is a really solid duo. Witten is turning into a star. The O line and running game are suspect, they also picked up some real quality on the defensive side. Namely Akin Ayodele. This guy is horribly underrated and one of my favorite linebackers outside of DC (before this year that was!)

Giants have really solid talent on every side of the ball. They can get a lead and hold it, and I think Eli will be improved this year even more.

It will be a grind to get through the season, and I doubt any one team breaks away. The Redskins come down to if Brunell can get his job done, and injurys throughout the division.

Re: Why No Faith???

It appears there are alot who don't have faith on here, because they have always been used to seeing the Redskins have medicore or losing seasons. They were not old enough or blessed enough to be through the glory years, so it's sort of the thing where "I'll believe it when I see it" sort of thing. Being one who has ben through the glory years, it's a little easier to see how much of a difference Coach Gibbs has brought to this team. People get too caught up in numbers - stats, age, who's calling the plays....If the Redskins win it all this year, there will still be people here to give absolutely no credit to Joe Gibbs whatsoever. To me, that's a sign of immaturity and just plain out being ignorant. To me, he'll always be a mastermind as a head coach - and it's not just because he can call plays. If that was the case, Steve Spurrier would have been a super bowl winning coach his first season. Obviously, it's just part of what it is to be a great coach.

I think there's a ton of faith around here. But looking at all sides of things is what we do as well.

I'd say that while he isn't a big loss for us, he is a big gain for New York. Lavar has never shown the discipline to work within our system, and he couldn't be "the man" here - something he expected to be. In New York, he isn't going to be the centerpiece either, but the expectations won't be there.

That being said, I think we will torch him, because no one knows Lavar's tendencies better than us.

I see it the same way. What worries me (and most QBs) about Lavar is that he may give up big plays, but he may also end your career on any one play. That tends to keep guys from keeping thier heads in the game.

With the two DEs the Giants have, Lavar will be a big pass rush threat. That worries me with Brunnel.

Re: Why No Faith???

Anyone who has doubts about Joe Gibbs at this point need their head examined. My worry was that the game may have past him by after the first season in his comeback but he has two of the best minds in the business in Williams and Saunders and he's letting them do what they do better than most of ther peers. He's doing whatever it takes to return the Skin's to those glory years and he's not letting his ego get in way. He's a GREAT manager of men, he wins at everything he does and he will get us back to that level once again. It's just a matter of time IMO.

We may know Lavar's tendencies as does he know ours. I think thats why we got blown out the first game last season, maybe antonio pierce filled them in. Lavar is a huge gain for new york, which doesnt help the fact we didnt need him. I saw on the nfl network when he was interviewed he didnt know how we would recieve him back at the stadium for when we play the giants at home. I say boo him noone wear that jersey, and throw every hateful remark that comes to mind at him and his way. Screw him.

Maybe Antonio was familiar with some hand signals that the offensive and defensive staff's used. Other than that, I'm hard pressed to believe that one player knew tendencies from practice, and was able to pass on that knowledge in the practice week.

I think they were just the better team that day. It happens.

We get new ones, though. Al Saunders wasn't calling plays last year.

We all have faith here but we certainly don't subscribe to the "blind faith" mantra.

Re: Why No Faith???

Did anyone else see the LaVar piece on NFL Total Access the other night?

He really does look in alot better shape, looks like he's lost a good 10-15 lbs. He doesn't have that gut that he had last year.
