Say good bye to your Heisman Mr. Bush

Cash and carry - Reggie Bush Investigation - Yahoo! Sports

Maybe he can buy OJ's on eBay.

Re: Say good bye to your Heisman Mr. Bush

Who cares, he's a rich mofo now...and if he is as good in the Pro as everyone thinks this will all be forgotten in a few years. I suppose the only people who should care are those involved in SC athletics department.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was happening to every college superstar out there right now. Sheesh. It's not like getting a little money is gonna make them play better, look at all the busts in the pro's that are still getting paid.

USC cares, but bush shouldn't, he's already a multi-millionaire now with more goodwill in his new hometown and more endorsements than he knows what to do with.

Re: Say good bye to your Heisman Mr. Bush

why is this a shocker? just like thatguy said, this probably goes on at all the major colleges. and who cares anyway? why is usc allowed to profit off of bush while he doesnt make a dime? he gained no unfair advantage by accepting money, so more power to him

Im pretty sure that was sarcasm, dmek.

They need to make it so NCAA atheletes can get paid, Either have the universities who make tons of cash off them give them a little bit, or let them accept marketing deals. Most kids that age can go out and get a job to afford things they want -- but not these football players. My step-sister was playing D1 soccer till she got rear ended in an automobile and her career was ended. Luckily her schoolarship opened up a bit more room for my dad to give her spending money, but for kids with parents that can't necessarily pay extra, it can be tough!

They do get paid alot about 50,000 per year is about what it cost to send a child to an out of state college. In state runs around 18,000 in Va.. Look at the kids who work hard in school and receive nothing in the form of a scholarship for their hard work.

That's ludicrous - how much money do these other kids bring to the school? Football teams in the Big East get almost $40 million a year in revenue from the TV deal for airing their games. With even 75 players on a squad, that's about $4 million in scholarships at $50k/year. That's a lot of money that these kids are bringing to the school in exchange for the pittance they receive (and we haven't even touched on ticket sales or merchandising).

plus when u take into account all of the practices and film sessions the players have to go to, they don't have the time or energy to also work a full time job and do well enough in school to maintain their scholarship. I think they should get some type of money, it's just a matter of coming up with an amount for the players to have money to buy what they need and not so much what they want.

Just to play devil's advocate for you and onlydarksets, isn't it a LITTLE crappy that these guys can get paid years worth of college because of playing a sport? Sure, they bring in millions of dollars to the school, but they are just playing the hand they were dealt. I don't fault them for choosing schools that want them to play football, and I don't fault them for enjoying that full ride they get all through college. I DO fault them and other people for saying that universities should share the money they make off them with others.

Medical students all over the country aren't getting money from the advances they're making in that field, so why should athletes?

Here is the difference. Normal college students can go out and get a part time job. I worked 30-40 hours a week in college being a bartender. Do you think Reggie Bushg could do this? No. Playing major college football is a full time job. What do these guys do for spending money?

While I realize there may be a small problem with......spending money. Dude gets free education. Minimum of 10's of thousands of dollars. Dude is worshipped like a rockstar everywhere he goes. He's getting paid many times over in intangibles. I'm sure you can imagine. Did he pay for his parents $750k hacienda out of his..............spending money? Was he unaware this was not Hoyle in the NCAA? Ridiculous. In RB's case, he's going to a MULTI million dollar future.
Would you trade your life to have his (at that time) for the difference of..............spending money. It's difficult to feel sorry for someone in his position. We need to stop making excuses for this type of stupid crap for superstars in all fields, or change the rules. Until then, the rules are the rules.
