Yea I think he will be. If we trade down in the draft, one of the later picks we get will probably be a guard to develop behind him.

I agree. He filled in really nice at RT when JJ couldn't go. If he can shift over to LG?
And becomes the DOCK replacment...which I think he has all the tools. Man we did really good with this signing, talk about bargain priced and if he becomes the #1. That would be GREAT.

I expect that Wade saw how much starting guards got in this years free agency, how little teams wanted him, and a starting opportunity at the Redskins guard position. If he makes a successful transition to starting guard, he will be up for big time money two years from now as a tackle or guard. I think that he recognized that.

They cut him because he had been hurt...not because he sucked. He was their best lineman talent wise and is considered a starting quality tackle in the league. I'll take a starting quality tackle playing the even easier position of guard for sure.

Hey Nug, the TEXANS SUCKED not WADE.
The O line consists of more than one guy, it takes a solid line.....LOL
Kinda like we have. I think this is a great move for us, for "league standard".....LOW DOLLARS.

Not to mention he is familiar with our system. That should be a big upside. Not another Archuletta situation! Here we have a guy who can be a big time backup at tackle and a probable starter at guard. If Jansen or Samuels goes down I will be much more comfortable with this guy moving over to fill the spot then I was with old Ray. I personally don't believe our line is going to miss a beat.

He was cut because of injury, not performance.

well you can say what you want,I live in Houston and they were never happy with him

Houston acquired Wade as an unrestricted free agent in the spring of 2004, rewarding the former Miami Dolphins starter with a six-year, $30 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus. Over two years, the Texans paid Wade $12 million in bonuses and salaries, but he never lived up to expectations as the Houston line continued to struggle.

Wade, 29, appeared in 14 games in 2004, his first season in Houston, starting 13 times at right tackle. He started the first nine contests in 2005 but then suffered a torn knee ligament and was placed on injured reserve for the balance of the season. But even when healthy, Wade's sub-par performances were symbolic of the longstanding problems of a porous Texans offensive line.

Yeah but those morons clearly don't know how to put together a decent offensive line. You have to wonder how much Wade was affected by the crappy offensive line coaching and the crappy teammates he had around him.

Before he got to Houston, he definitely had to be doing something right to earn a $30 million contract. And that was 2004 dollars.

I think he's a solid player, but the Texans' staff under Capers just had no effing clue about offensive line play.

The contract one is offered is not necessarily indicative of his actual value or performance.

We've jettisoned several players who can attest to that.
