B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season

Lloyd Has Fractured Clavicle

Leaves us with only 3 healthy receivers:
Randle El
Caldwell
McCardell

Never thought it would pain me to hear that B. Lloyd won't play for the rest of the season.

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season

Here is a proper link to the story:

Lloyd Suffers Injury In Practice

So when Lloyd is gone after the season, he will have given us 25 catches for under 400 yards and ZERO TDs in two seasons. It kills me that we gave up a 3rd AND a 4th for that. That doesn't even account for the significant cap hit that lies ahead. If Lloyd is cut after June 1st, he will remain on our cap through 2009.

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season

He has two catches this year in 9 games. TWO!! I think Lloyd has played in his last game as a Redskin. I don't wish injury on anyone, but this doesn't bother me one bit. McCardell and Randle El have been playing very well. I'm far more upset about Thrash's injury than Lloyd's or even Moss' really. Santana couldn't catch a cold this year and has been riddled by the injury bug, whereas Thrash just turned in the best game by any of our WRs all year and is a big special teams contributor. Lloyd has 25 catches for 379 yards in 25 games. Maybe the worst WR free agent signing ever. I'm ready for him to just go away.

It'll be interesting to see if we sign someone outside the organization. One flare-up by Randle El's hammy and we're down to two WRs that weren't even on the team a month ago.

I don't think anyone's arguing that the team will be really impacted by this. He hasn't produced jack squat so far and there's no reason to think he was about to step up.

I'm just blown away at the almost comical rate that we are racking up injured players. We start off losing guys in the preseason, then we start losing starters to game injuries and nagging injuries, and no we lose a backup WR to a freak, non-contact, practice injury.

Goodness. I didn't realize it was for the whole year, just this Sunday.

If only Espy hadn't gotten hurt this year. Maybe Toler will be activated

But like I said last week we might be better off with Caldwell and Keenan playing anyway. At least Keenan, dude is sick.

What a deal 5 million for the year-2 catches-thats 2.5 mil. per catch. I would work for that if I wasn't 40 and fat

Re: B. Lloyd Possibly Out For The Season

Patten and Lloyd can't be classified as anything more than busts here. I mentioned it about a month ago and I'll reiterate here I think I'd like to see us go after Bernard Berrian in the offseason. Bryant Johnson is a possibility as is possibly Larry Fitzgerald (via trade).

But I really like Berrian and think he's coming into his own now. Another intriguing possibility could be Matt Jones out of Jacksonville. But I think the focus should be on Berrian this offseason (him and Justin Smith )

Maybe I'll start a "Five Offseason Moves I Want to See" thread

I like the way you think. After watching replays of the resurgent :yeahright Rex Grossman hooking up with Bernard Berrian on the long ball this past weekend, I wondered if Jason Campbell could have a better connection with him than he's had with Santana. I think making a move for Bernard would be a nice decision. He maybe the deep threat the offense has been lacking.

Larry Fitzgerald and Bryant Johnson are intriguing too, but I'm not sure about Matt Jones. He's eerily similar to B Lloyd. He likes the amazing one handed circus grab and scissor arms balls headed right for him. He's got a wealth of potential, but the knock on him in Jax is that he's kind of lackadaisical and unmotivated. From what I've seen, he hasn't really done anything to dispell those grumblings about him.

Have heard the same about Jones. What's compelling about him is he's 6'6", fast, and I think Dave Butz' son is his agent.

But BB is at the top of my wish list

He's definitely an intriguing prospect. If JC had a tall target with speed, it could be a lethal combo, but I'd hate to see Snyder back up the Brinks truck, and then Matt Jones is teetering back and forth from inactivity to 5th string receiver like he is in Jax. I wonder if he'd command a lot of money in the free agent market or if we could get him at a good price. I'd like him as compliment to our receiving corp but not to be the solution to fix our problems there.

What's interesting about Jones' season thus far is he'll be in street clothes one week, and then the next game, he's making a spectacular game winning TD. The way our season's gone so far, it might be worth shelling out $2.5 million for a game winning TD here and there, even if he could potentially be on the bench the next week, stroking his beard. It's definitely better than $2.5 million for a seven yard slant here and there.
