Great Redskin memories, like Kilmer getting arrested...

Kilmer is still remembered for the night in 1971 he got arrested in an Arlington coffee shop. As the story went, Kilmer tried to pay for a cup of coffee with a $100 bill. As he argued with the waitress, a policeman showed up. Kilmer, who hadn’t been drinking just coffee all night, told the policeman, “If you think I’m wrong, put me in jail.”

The policeman obliged. Kilmer got out of jail in time to lead the Redskins to the playoffs against San Francisco, and he won the hearts of fans when he told the waitress she could keep the $100 as a tip. (from The Washingtonian)

This is one of those memories that doesn't make Redskins Yearbook, but it is part of the great Redskins history.

It's been a fun ride and I hope we have great fun this year.

Do you have a fun memory to share?

Darrell Green running a Punt back against Chicago for a TD even though he pulled something in his chest and out ran defenders while holding his chest.

Great moment, but that does make Redskins Yearbook

Billy, and Sonny routinely broke curfew and were frequently observed enjoying DC's night life

Re: Great Redskin memories, like Kilmer getting arrested...

One of my earliest memories of watching the Redskins on tv is of Rafael Septein (playing for the Rams) missing two field goals in a row in George Allen's last game as Redskins head coach to help the Redskins win a Saturday afternoon game 17-14. Septein missed the first, but flopped after he kicked it in response to a miniscule bump in a manner that would now draw a fine in the NBA. The tactic worked, however, and the Redskins were penalized five yards, and then Septein proceeded to miss the second attempt as well. Redskins win! Another one that doesn't make a yearbook, but still, because it's one of my earliest memories, it's one of my favorites.

THE YELLOW SEAT CUSHIONS!!!

Atlanta playoffs at RFK – had to be 10 degrees, tops, pouring raining, and Mobil was giving away foamy yellow seat cushions. Glanville flat out called Gibbs a wuss and neon-Deon announced he'd be back to DC, as a Super Bowl champ, to meet the President. MC Hammer was even there, dancing that stupid dance.

Fast-forward to the 4th quarter. Skins score the TD that sends us to the championships. That’s when the cushions flew, all 56,000+ of them to the sidelines, midfield, endzone, one even hit my head (I tossed it on). Refs had to stop the game to clear the field which threw the stadium in damn near unconsciousness from the frenzy. Refs even turned to Gibbs to ask him to get us to chill. It’s a wonder we didn’t sink that stadium into the Potomac.

Yeah, I threw my cushion. Regretted it for years until I snagged one about 5 years ago, mint, at a yard sale for a buck. It’s true what they say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I would have paid near anything.

I’m taking my cushion to Canton next week with a Sharpie.

Sense DG is getting ready for the HOF how about his Rookie year he chased down Tony Dorset to save a TD and Dorrset just kind of turned around and look at DG like "who the hell are you". I think that was the play when allot of people took notice of number 28.

How about the weird season that Riggo took off, and he was camped out in a tent along the Potomac?

This article has some CLASSIC material. Enjoy.

GREAT article. Here's one snippet that might entice others to read it:

During one team meeting, the players heard a strange noise from inside the locker room, like the sound you hear when it just starts to pour rain. They glanced in the back and there was a groggy Riggins, lying on his back, his pants pulled down, peeing straight into the air all over himself. Gibbs and the poor coaching staff always looked the other way with Riggo, as long as he was coherent on Sundays, but this seemed a little much ... and yet the coaching staff never did anything. "They always looked the other way with him," said May. "It just wasn't Gibbs's nature to constantly battle with a player like that."

Can you imagine what the press and the fans would say if Clinton Portis was on his back in the locker room and so drunk that he was pissing all over himself?

I would say almost all of Riggo's career was a great Redskins memory.

I wonder what Goodell would have done to him?
