One thing i cant criticize s the defensive play. they have definately played their asses off but at what point are they gonna start putting points up.

Putting points up is going to be difficult until a team gets comfortable at throwing into deep coverage. Most teams are throwing one big pass but that's it. Our defense needs to keep doing what their doing. When is our running offense going to consist of someone other than Portis? If Cartwright, Morton and Simon is hurt, we need to activate Sultan McCollugh. I don't see how Portis should be struggling to run the ball on a weak defense like Cleveland. Earnest Byner is gonna have to work on Portis with his ball control because he's killing us.

There are two key players who have disappointed me so far - Portis and Coles. Both are making big, big bucks and I expect to see consistency and top notch production from them. Instead we get inconsistent play, a host of turnovers, dropped passes, and excuses.

Portis' turnovers have been particularly galling and have killed us in at least 2 games.

I'm also very tired of seeing Coles dropping passes or simply not getting open. Art Monk was often double-teamed and managed to get open, when can't Coles?

Also disappointed in the overall scheme of the offense - why does Portis feature in 95% of the running plays? Why not use other receiver more such as Thrash, McCants, etc.?

Very disappointing to see this team, week after week, play well below their potential.

Beginning to remind me a lot of the offense that cost Spurrier his job!

The turnover's will come we can start getting out in front of team's in the second half of games, when they have to start throwing the ball, it allows defenses to key on the passing game a little more, and forces the offense to take more of a gamble with the game's outcome in jeopordy.

The Ravens' D (when they won the SB) decided that in order to win games, THEY were gonna have to start scoring the points. They went onto the field determined not just to give the offense a good opportunity to score, but to score themselves. Maybe this way of thinking is needed in our D until our O comes around?

I think you're absoutely right. No complaints about the defense but the one thing that's been missing is that game changing turnover/fumble recovery returned for a TD. We need to start getting those

Agreed, smootsmack. That would take the heat off the O a bit.

A great defense forces turnovers, scores points and wins games. Right now we have a very good D, but it's not at that elite level......yet.

Spurrier had a pro bowl back in his first year, funny but I don't recall a playoff appearance.
