Washington Examiner: Ceratto and Zorn were almost fired together last season

Pretty scathing commentary about the Redskins from Rick Snider.. Rick Snider: Redskins' circus is full of clowns | Washington Examiner

One really interesting part of the article, that Snyder's dissatisfaction with the way the team is heading went back to last season:
-However, Cerrato wants Zorn to stay as his shield. Wasn’t Zorn chosen by Cerrato? Wasn’t Cerrato the one who drafted three lousy second-rounders last season who all appear busts?

Snyder will likely dismiss Cerrato come season’s end. After all, Snyder nearly fired both Zorn and Cerrato after last season.

If nothing else, this gives some hope that change is a coming. Snider may not have the name as some of the Times and Post guys but he had Cuter first and if I'm not mistaken, he was one of the first on Gibbs 2.0 as well. They guy is definitely connected at Redskins Park.

It gives me optimism too to think there's a good chance there could be a major philosophical shift moving forward. Like a heroine addict who hit rock bottom, we could look back at this season in 10 years as the point when everything began to change for the better.

You're on to something, and we all regret it had to come to this for the realization to come front and center.

Is this just a rant? Or does Snider actually have something to back his assertions up with? Sure it sounds good and resonates among fans - but is it anything more than speculation??

What does Duke Snider have to do with the Redskins?

This is great news to hear, even if it is not from Snyder. Cerrato being rumored to be fired in major media can only help keep the idea in Snyder's mind if it is not already.

If we can lose Vinny, we'll make major strides quickly I believe.

That's one guy's word.. I mean I'm sure Snyder was pissed but who knows

I'm surprised there haven't been public death threats to the guy yet

To the extent that I hope this article is correct, I feel the giddy optimism appropriate for a fan for the first time in weeks.

Really, Snyder would consider firing Cerrato for the good of the team? sounds unheard off

I don't see why anybody would find this news by itself exciting. This is classic bad manager syndrome, it's just that The Danny has finally had to move the ceiling of blame up a notch and it's cutting his Yes Man's head off. It still indicates that Snyder feels no responsibility for the team's problems, and it just makes Cerrato the fall guy for all of Danny's tinkering.

If he hires a real GM and gives him the authority to build a winner, then we can talk about optimism.

Essentially I agree. But firing Vinny would be a big first step towards that hoped-for goal.

A true disaster of season like this is just what Snyder needs to finally wake the F up, can Vinny and get a real GM in here. Zorn was Vinny's hire, and he's had the last two drafts to officially call his own, this folks is Vinny's sinking ship.

Re: Washington Examiner: Ceratto and Zorn were almost fired together last season

OK I made this argument in the past when the BS about hiring a "real GM" was always brought up. It isn't enough to just hire a GM, the guy has to be good at it...otherwise you might as well just have Snyder be the actual GM. I only bring this up now because Snyder finally did hire a GM. Cerrato. He hasn't had the authority until just the last few years and he's obviously average at best and made some serious mistakes. Now we expect Snyder to go from not having a real GM, to finally hiring one and having it blow in his face, to firing that guy and hiring the absolute right GM? No chance. I am a Snyder apologist but even I can see Snyder's biggest problem is admitting he isn't very good at this from an execution standpoint. He's gonna bag himself another patsy or two to run this how he likes to run it. I hate Sally Jenkins but her quote about Snyder prefering to RUN a mediocre team rather than sit back and simply own a good team is right on.
