Jim Zorn says redskins could pursue L. Johnson

just saw on rotoworld that Jim Zorn said the redskins will have internal discussions about whether to sign Larry Johnson. The skins will pay 2.1 million in waivers to get the disgruntled ex-chief.

This is huge news. They aren't bringing him in, or considering him, to be a backup. This tells me portis' days as the marquee back are coming to an end. And with rumors of the uncapped off-season, Portis could be gone next season...

I hope this is not true and that this has no teeth.

First and foremost, I would think that the offensive line needs addressing before adding another tailback.

Sandtrapjack - you make too much sense - but at this point is there anyone even left out there that we can sign? Can we still sign away some other teams practice squad lineman and just throw him in there and take a flyer?

Maybe if Russell Okung falls into our laps Vinny pulls the trigger but anyhting else I see too many other top players in the top 10 that Vinny would go after like an Eric Berry or one of the qb's.

Well I just read an AP report that Zorn is VERY concerned about the concussion that CP sustained in the Falcons game.

According to Zorn, Portis does not even remember the play it happened on. CP is already listed as doubtful for next weeks game.

That and Ladell Betts has a sprained ankle. That is Zorns reasoning for looking to add another RB.

According to the AP report, the Redskins are looking to add a safety and an running back.

So the million dollar question is, if they sign 2 players, who goes to IR or gets released to make room?

If LJ is signed, someone has to go.

good post. I think we have had a revolving door at spots 51-53, so I can't imagine that would change. Paluesco would go for a few days, come back if hunter still hurts.

Man we have had so many roster changes at the 52nd and 53rd spot, I can't remember which guys are there now. But you are right someone would be gone.

If I had to guess, you shut Chris Horton, Mike Williams or Chris Cooley down (or all 3) to make the necessary roster moves.

Larry Johnson is not the answer (cost is too high), but if both Portis and Betts can't go, you're looking at Cartwright and Sellars getting the carries. So you look at re-signing Aldridge or Ganther (or both if you can swing it). The Skins have a safety on their practice squad, but between Landry, Moore and Doughty, they'd be ok for a week or so.

As if Jim Zorn has any say in what the Redskins do. He will only know about it if he reads it on PFT.

i don't think he's coming here. he's got a bad attitude and playing behind this line will only make the locker room worse. no thanks.

This smells of Vinny or even Snyder.

Just so you will know it can only be a horrible decision if they actually sign him not before.
