Different Season, Same Trap

Seems like almost everyone is excited about getting McNabb and I can't help wonder why everyone is so giddy given the 'Skins track-record of overpaying for big names some of whom are in their twilight years. What do you think the Skins record will be next year? McNabb's stats? Keep in mind McNabb is going to be learning a new system with a new coach and new teammates.

I say 8-8 with McNabb netting 3500 yards, 20 TDs, and 14 INTs. Don't get too excited and get your hopes up, they will inevitably be dashed.

Meet me in the trap it's goin' down.

McNabb is used to having different receivers by now and he knows the concepts of our system.

I think McNabb will get up to speed very quickly. He knows the terminology of the system, he just has to get used to a balanced attack instead of throwing 70% of the time.

I do agree about all the elation around his signing. You've got wonder if Vinny did this what everyone's reaction would be. Another high priced, past his prime vet brought in for high draft pick(s).... Granted it's a qb, but still.

On the low end I'd say 7 wins, on the high end I'd say 10.

IMO. If Vinny did this he would still be here! What I mean is if he was bold enough to replace JC.

I was going to say something similar. It's still the WCO, just a slightly different version that focuses on the running game. The verbage is only slightly different like if an American and an Englishman were to engage in a conversation. There might be a couple of words that mean something else, but for the most part they would understand each other.

Example: If an Englishman said that he wanted to blow a fag, the American might be taken back by that statement. Later the American will learn that blowing a fag is slang for smoking a cigarette...McNabb will be fine.

Until the offensive line is significantly upgraded, I'd say the McNabb and Shanahan partnership makes us 3 wins better, 7-9. If we get an offensive line worth a darn then I can see 9-7.

The defense is going to experience a fair amount of change themselves.

I am excited becasue the Redskins are a "get away" for me from reality. So Iwant to hope my "get away" is at least going to be fun.

Without knowing who will play on the o-line I find it impossible to speculate too much. However, I will say that Shanny's system will be far more familiar than new to McNabb. Reid's Philly offensive concepts are not dissimilar.

well for the most part we know exactly who will play on the offensive line.
Left guard is Derrick Dockery. Center is Casey Rabach. Right guard is EITHER Hicks or Big Mike. Right tackle is Heyer because Shanny keeps talking like he ishigh on him. And HOPEFULLY...Okung will be the left tackle. That is the only position which is clearly up in the air but we will know that in less than 2 weeks.

Don't count Rino out just yet.

Let's look again:

LT: ??? at least until April 22 - there is no guarantee right now that Shanny will draft Okung
LG: Dock
C: Rabach
RG: you actually indicate that this is in doubt. Could be Hicks, Williams, Rino, or a FA or rookie to be named later
RT: Heyer is hardly a shoo-in. Could be a FA or rookie to be named later.

The offensive line of 2009 brought down the whole team. The offensive line of 2010 is 60% uncertain right now. QED it is too early to be making predictions.
